Watching Mockingjay Part 1. Like:
"PEETA"
"Peeta"
"peeta"
* aggressive sobbing
i don't understand how people can miss or ignore the fact that katniss is a scared teenage girl with PTSD when mockingjay pt.1 literally opens with katniss trying to calm herself down after having another nightmare and is clearly shown to be in distress
and when the scene right after it is literally katniss going to see finnick who she can hear crying in the room down the hall from her like
does it need to be any more fucking obvious
Full Review of Mockingjay Pt.1
This isn't spoiler free in any shape or form, so if you haven't seen the movie (or read the book), be warned - this gets pretty detailed! But I'm putting it under a cut just to be sure.
Mockingjay Part 1, has me way too emotional for life.
I saw it last night in the triple feature, and emotionally I may have died. That movie...was amazing. I am suffering from ALL THE ODESTA FEELS. Everlark just about shattered my heart into twelve billion pieces. Odesta made my heart soar for miles. Gale made me wanna rip something in half, Effie and Haymitch are too precious, The Hanging Tree was fantastic, and I just--*SOBS*.
In light of that last post, one thing I think Mockingjay does really well is not to shy away from the reality of what's going on. The film does not, in any way, ignore or gloss over some of the more difficult and hard-hitting aspects of the book, and rightly so. To do so would be an insult to the story Suzanne Collins was trying to tell and the messages she was trying to get across.
Yes, it is violent and upsetting and it makes you uncomfortable, but that's the point. It is not an easy book to read, nor an easy film to watch, and I doubt the second part will be either.
Francis Lawrence really does the themes of the book justice in both Mockingjay and Catching Fire before it, and while it's important to warn people who may be upset by it, it's also important to remember that the story wouldn't be what it is without these aspects.
Ohhhh... oh Tumblr... My Dash is so full of Mockingjay Pt. 1 pictures and actor comments... *dies with happiness*
