While the Starblaster itself remained in fairly decent nick and very functional flight wise right up to the end; inside there are areas of the living space that are a bit of a wreck. Not just worn but busted. In a way that no amount of Mend spells will fix.
Some examples:
The top left ring of the hob only works with a quick prayer to Pan or a very specific twiddle of rings.
The fringe door has a latch screwed on to it because otherwise the door will just swing open. Opposite to that, the main doors won’t slide open fully unless you lean on it hard.
The corridors looks a lot less like a spaceship because the cold floors over laid with rugs they’ve collected. along with a drying line down the longest one for when its wet/hostile outside, because the dryer has been on the fritz from year four day two. the washing machine only stays in place in someone or two someone’s sit on top of it while it’s on. at least three of the porthole’s are permanently fogged up.
The deck is scuffed and one or the rails is replaced by a stolen bit of fence post.
Barry has to be the one to turn the lights on in the engine room because he’s the only one who can get the cord to work. Both Merle’s and Taako’s bunk just gave up the ghost at different points and snapped off the wall. Merle replaced his with a hammock. Lup’s assigned storage is held together with gaffa tape and hope as are most of the seats on board. certain cupboards need a kick or slap n the side to unjam and open.
One of Lucretia’s painting is used to cover a football sized whole in the wall in the common area. There’s not a single matching piece of kitchen ware anywhere.
If you run the shower for more then five minutes, it’s starts to rattle. More then ten and every pipe on the ship rattles. Everyone to skip the middle step up to the slight deck because it wobbles but no one wanted to be the one responsible for breaking it.
All bar one of the non-essential metal doors to the storerooms etc have been recycled for repair panels. Most have been replace by top and tailed curtains. So has magnus’s cos he flung it open to hard to often. The Captain’s door is a nice wooden door that Magnus put on to appolgise.
So Starblaster, outside Silver shiny slick. Inside very much reflected a hundred years of living in.
