I was looking into islam for awhile but I saw some stuff where its been said that muslims are slaves to Allah and I don't know how to feel about that
Hi anon! I understand where your confusion comes from- from the perspective of a human, the word slave has an extremely negative connotation. However, that saying is actually a positive one, beleive it or not!Because Allah swt is seen as just and kind and gentle, it becomes more of a matter of, “He has created us and it is He whom we pray to.” If that makes any sense?Humans are not inherently all good, just beings, so it makes sense why you don’t know how to feel about that, don’t worry! Slavery is, obviously, a terrible thing.I hope this made a little sense ❤️-Mod Aslan
Salaam sweethearts 💗 I’ve started my junior year and between schoolwork and leadership positions I’ve been very swamped, but I will try to be more active in the future! I know I’ve been super inactive as of late and I apologize for that ahdhndjandjj Just a lil PSA 😬😘 I pray that you all have a wonderful rest of your year and that you stay safe and feel loved 💛💛💛 - mod aslan
is there any way to get over like religious internalized homophobia idk what to call it but i feel haraam all the time like i find a girl attractive or think about having a wife or seeing a lesbian couple i just feel haraam and think they are haraam and i want to stop feeling like this but its really hard and i dont know how to get over it i dont even call myself gay anymore bc i feel less haraam when i dont even tho i only like girls rn uggggh
NOTE: some of these tips could possibly also help other wlw of faith as well, not just muslim wlw, when dealing with internalized homophobia.
salaam!! i’m so sorry for the late response, alhamdulillah my schedule is more free now.
i’d like to preface by saying that you’re not alone, which is both fortunate and not. many other gay muslims feel the same way as you do. heck, i struggled with feeling haraam for about four years.
i can’t guarantee that these feelings will go away, but i can say that they may fade over time.
i don’t think theres a surefire way to get rid of internalized homophobia or feeling haraam because of this attraction, all i can tell you is what happened to work for me:
give it time. its probably not what you would want to hear and it certainly wouldn’t have been what i would have wanted to hear either.
the only tips i can give you are as follows:
remember that you are still a valid muslim regardless of your attraction. islam is about your belief in Allah (swt) and who you love will not change this fact, so long as you believe and submit to Him
try listing out what you love about girls. see/meet a cute girl? list out why you feel attracted to her. her hair, her voice, her laugh, her quirks, personality. anything. this might help to normalize your attraction in your mind if you remind yourself of why you feel this way. i would do this in my mind when i was struggling with my sexuality and found that it helped me feel a bit more normal.
reach out to other muslim wlw! most likely, you haven’t met any irl, but we do have links to discord servers where you can meet some online. i will reblog with the links once i have them (if i forget please feel free to call me out in the ask box lmao). by speaking to others with similar feelings as yours, you may begin to feel more comfortable with yourself
pray. this one is very simple. Allah (swt) will hear your prayers; He already knows all, but i do find telling Him about how i’m feeling through du’aa or before i sleep to be comforting. Allah will always be there to listen, even if you can’t see or hear Him.
i hope that these help! i’ll keep you in my prayers, anon. salaam!!
Hey i'm new to this whole being at peace with being a lesbian and being religious..I'm still in the closet to my family but do you have any blog recommendations of other religious sapphics? Thanks y'all!
hello sweetie! I’m so happy that you’re finding peace within yourself :) i’m in the closet as well.
you didn’t mention what religion you practice so i’m sending as many as i can find from different religions.
https://muslimandsapphic.tumblr.com : islam
https://christian-wlw.tumblr.com : christianity
http://sapphicjudaism.tumblr.com : judaism
unfortunately i could not find much and there were few posts that came up for sikh, hindu, buddhist, etc. :( if any of our followers know of any more that i missed, please feel free to tell us!! we’ll reblog it to this post.
Sending all y'all mods hugs for holding space with all the pain and fear of those of us closeted, or out and recovering from that kind of place, who need space to talk. It's one of the hardest things to cope with, to want your religion and to be happy in your own skin too, and not feel able to have them both. Thank you again for making this space, and remember to take care of yourselves too!
its our pleasure sweetie! and thank you so much for the hugs! we love all of you here on the blog and hope you all find peace and happiness in your lives 😘💖
