yes! i do still watch and love htsdof - sadly life has been a bit too busy for me the last few months, so no new content :(
anyway, i binged s3 the day it came out, so my memory of it isn't the best. i'll probably have to rewatch it another time to get all my thoughts together.
but i can give you a quick summary!
the good:
- just like the seasons before, s3 had a lot of iconic and funny moments - mostly starring the OG mydrugs team imo, e.g. the mushroom scene and headspace-dan (also nice nod to therapy-dan from s1, we love to see a twunk cope)
- they did a really good job at building up the suspense. out of all seasons it felt the most like a thriller
- herr zimmermann <33333 the devastation?? the desperation ???? the heartbreak???? what a performance *chef's kiss*
- love that they let dan and lenny be actual friends (just wish that we had more of an actual dynamic) - dan making an onlyfans account to finance lenny's treatment is both heartwarming and hilarious at the same time
- florentin will?? in my htsdof??? it's more likely than you think!
the bad:
- honestly i think s3 is the worst season out of all (it's still good tho). it just kind of felt all over the place, trying to pull all the strings, so they can have the ending they wanted
- as a consequence, a lot of things were dropped and/or neglected: dan's relationship with his father, lisa's parents divorcing, gerda and fritzi being girlfriends??? this show takes its course over the time span of a few months, these things don't just resolve themselves
- consequence number 2: a lot of weird storylines and plot-twists. that police-chief-trying-to-prove-himself-to-his-asshole-boss-storyline was thrown in way too quickly in the beginning and confused the hell out of me
- consequence number 3: where is this character development going??? absolutely nowhere.
- what i liked so much about s2 (which is also my favourite season) is the nuance and thought put into it. i loved that there was a coherent red string and theme (moritz getting caught in his own web of lies) that is reflected by his inner monologue, actions and dialogue. it always felt like one scene was picking up another one and this thoughtfulness is just missing for me this season.
- this continues into the cinematography, which is iconic, but also is trying way too hard this season imo. i think they caught on to people liking them referencing popular movies and tv shows and then just overdid it with the cameos. at the same time the unique and expressive framing we got from the first two seasons is gone
i am not saying s3 is bad. it had a lot of great moments and i enjoyed the thrill of it, but personally it is my least favorite season for the reasons given above.
