How would the Gasters take care of a crying s/o?
Undertale - He’d be awfully flustered, at first - He really wants to help but he’s kinda freaking out- Did someone say something? Did he do something? Are you hurt?! Boy’s in full panic mode- His first instinct is to offer comfort but he’s not sure what you need- If you give the go ahead, he’ll go for a hug- He gives the best hugs bc he’s so freaking big that you’re just completely encased, plus he’s always wearing soft sweaters and is very warm and I think you get the point- If you prefer not to be touched, he’ll keep his distance (though it’s taking every ounce of his self control not to smother you in affection and worry) - Either way he’ll pull himself together and do what he can to help- As much as he tries to keep calm, he might start crying too- It’s just a very messy and emotional ordeal- Once you’ve both settled down a little, he’ll ask what’s wrong and give you the chance to vent or talk it outUnderfell - Being the absolute worst at emotions, he freezes up- If there’s a specific person who caused you to cry, they won’t be around much longer- But he’s not the greatest comforter- By which I mean he’s utterly terrible- Kinda just stands there, looking horrified- He might even try to leave and give you some privacy, since that’s what he’d want if he got emotional- Which could easily come across as uncaring or callous- Just noping right the fuck out and leaving you to deal with it alone- He really does care that you’re upset, but thinks anything he’d do would only make it worse- So yeah you’re probably on your own unless you explicitly ask him to stay- In which case he’ll sit beside you and look super awkward, possibly offering head pats or a tentative hand on the shoulder- Later he’ll pretend it never happened but you might notice him watching you a bit closer than usual- Just making sure you’re okay nowUnderswap - As the oldest Gaster, you’d think he’d have learned what to do in this situation centuries ago - As a hermit with zero social skills, he…tries his best- He wraps his cloak around you because this is what humans like, right? Warm things??- If that doesn’t work he’ll sit with you in the beanbag chair (one of only five pieces of furniture in his cave, and arguably the most comfy) and hold you until it passes- He’ll spoil the heck out of you for the rest of the day - Whether you’re feeling better or not- And if you’re not, he might be a fussy, fretting mother hen for the rest of the week- He’s well aware it’s not necessary, you probably got over whatever upset you days ago - Doesn’t stop him thoOutertale - The best at this tbh- Though generally a cheeeful, upbeat person, not a day goes by where he doesn’t throw some sort of tantrum- So he’s learned to prepare for them- There are Emotional Emergency Supply Kits stashed around the mansion- Each one contains an unnecessary number of blankets, pillows, chocolate, his favorite stuffed unicorn toy (his name is Sprinkles), and a list of things that make him happy- After this occasion, he’ll let you write a list too and keep it with the rest of the suppliesMertale - Doesn’t get it- Why are you not paying attention to him? He’s right there, being adorable, but you’re just leaking? And making weird sounds?- It takes him an embarrassingly long time to figure it out, by which point you’re likely feeling worse- He tries to cheer you up, maybe make you laugh, just to give you some sort of distraction- Like putting seaweed on his head and asking what you think of his new haircut- Or telling ocean-related jokes (they don’t quite make sense, his grip on human languages is sorta loose)- He sends calming mental waves your way- Lots of mermonsters have telepathy and use it to comfort each other- If that doesn’t work, he might curl his tail around you- Sort of like a hug- A slimy, fish scented hug- It’s the thought that counts
I was wondering. ..what about Swapfell Gaster or dancetale Gaster.
I don’t know much about either of these AUs, but let’s give it a go ^^
SF would look much like US Gaster- old, tall dark & broody, always wearing a cloak- but have UF’s ridiculously long fangs and penchant for violence. Combined with US’s cold, calm demeanor, Swapfell Gaster turns out to be one vindictive bastard. Truly a monster. UF and US are both good at hiding their emotions, but they still express them to some extent. SF, on the other hand, doesn’t have to suppress his emotions because he’s not feeling any. I’d like to think he’s only capable of a sort of distant curiosity; he might wonder how or why things happen but have no real investment in the answers. Nor would he care who he hurts while finding those answers. This would also mean he can’t form romantic attachments, but since this blog is all about wooing Gasters I’ll leave that decision up to you guys. Maybe there’s a heart under that blank exterior :v

As far as I know, dancetale is just the canon UT characters but everyone has a dance style? So I guess he would have UT Gast’s cinnamon roll personality. His dance of choice might be waltz/ballroom, since that’s what I put in the fusion post.
