Hayley's 4 Games With Great Representation

My first experience playing a female character was Lara Croft. I felt, playing a female character as a little girl, that I could do that, too…or, at least, I could imagine because I am NOT fit enough to do any of those things.

I was open to a whole new world; I didn’t know you could play a woman! I guess that’s how it is with other forms of representation. I am a pansexual woman, and to me, it’s amazing to see more games include pronouns, body options, and love interests. I haven’t played a game that only has a straight cis male as the main character in a while. That’s not to say I hate male characters - most are badass, ahem Batman – but if I can, I will always choose to be a female. The option of your character being just a little bit more like you is so freeing.

So, I would like to point out some games with amazing representation!

Coral Island is currently in early access, has tons of romance options, and the pronouns/body types to fit your ideal gaming you!

Sims 4 has AMAZING representations. While the Sims franchise has always had amazing support for their LGBT+ community, Sims 4 added female and male categories for clothes that is removable so your character can wear both, you can also choose your sims pronouns, voice, and walk style.

Animal crossing New Horizons may not be the most overt in representation but you can choose skin tone and hair styles. I think it’s very easy to create a non-gendered or non-binary character. Especially since clothing isn’t gender based!

Error 143 is a visual novel with a very hot character named Micah. You can choose your pronouns. Jenny Vi Pham has worked very hard with the voice actor on the character to even voice some names which is amazing! There is even a $10 NSFW little DLC, which is also very hot. You can find this on Steam and Itch.io!

Well, this is my list of representative games. I only included the games I played, let me know if there are ones I missed, I’m certain I did! I would love to add more to my collection!

AU Weekend: Monsterhearts

Hi Everyone!

Happy October! For this month’s AU Weekend, we’re excited to dive into our Halloween Special: Monsterhearts! Our Monsterhearts AU will run from Midnight PST on October 2nd to 8pm PST October 4th. We will hold a vote on Saturday, October 3rd to see if people would like to extend it to a full week. 

Monsterhearts:

The town of Storybrooke is quiet and quaint, full of ordinary people living their ordinary lives... 

And full of monsters.... not that anybody knows it... especially not the monsters themselves. 

Every character can be human or any monster of your choosing -- but you think that you (or you and those closest to you) are the only monsters in town. If you’re human, maybe you’ve seen something to make you suspect something strange and sinister is happening. If you’re a monster, maybe someone is onto your secret, or you are onto someone else’s. It’s a strange town where anything can happen, and no one is what they seem.

This is entirely AU and not hinging on the main show's plot. Everyone is native to Our World. 

Monsterhearts Storybrooke is based on a ttrpg (similar to dungeons and dragons).

Jefferson: Copycat Fae, who has zero magic or special abilities when alone. But when he's in the presence (about 100 feet radius) of a supernatural creature, he's able to sense their true nature and able to copy their abilities. It takes practice to reach the born supernaturals' levels, though, so he keeps his identity and ability a secret.

Hey Everyone! 

In light of Once Upon a Time being removed from Netflix and not being added to Disney+ until Friday, September 18th, the Mod Team has decided to do two things, as some members may not have access to this week's episode until the 18th: 

We will be remaining on Episode 1x22 for an extra week, until September 27th, when we'll move on to 2x01. 

We will not be doing activity checks until September 19th, the day after the show has been added to Disney+, to give everyone time to watch the episode. 

Thank you all for your wonderful writing!! It’s been a wonderful first season here at Once Upon Another Time, and we can't wait to start season 2! 

Reminder: We have several new characters opening up for applications with the upcoming start of season 2, so to everyone who's been following along and wanting to join us, please take a look at our new characters!

AU Weekend: Zelena’s Dark Curse

Hi Everyone!

We are so excited to announce this month’s AU Weekend!

The theme for this month is: Zelena’s Dark Curse, and we can’t wait for it to begin! It starts tonight at Midnight PST and runs through to 11:59 PM PST Sunday night. On Saturday, August 8th we will hold a vote to see if the majority of members are interested in extending the AU to a full week, or to move back to our regular canon as scheduled.

Zelena’s Dark Curse:

The year is 2002, 18 years after Zelena cast The Dark Curse, sweeping the inhabitants of the Enchanted Forest into the the time-locked town of Storybrooke, Maine, The Land Without Magic. With different enemies and different motivations than her sister, the curse that the people of the Enchanted Forest find themselves under looks a little different...

Please refer to the list below to see who all is participating, and what their new curses entail for them. Anyone whose name has changed in this new curse has their new name indicated:

BELLE FRENCH: Isobelle French. School Lit Teacher. Runs the school book club. 

DAVID NOLAN: David Shepherd. Deputy Sheriff. Married to Gwen (Snow). Volunteers part time at the animal shelter. Adopted Emma when she was 5. Is helping Emma raise Henry.  

EMMA SWAN: Emma Shepherd. Adopted by David & Gwen at age 5. Left Storybrooke briefly after high school, then moved back once she got pregnant so her parents could help with the baby. Works at Granny's. Is the only one aging in Storybrooke and is suspicious.  

GRANNY LUCAS: Runs the diner. Retired DA. 

GRETEL: Ava. From a rich family.

JEFFERSON: Full fake memories. Adopted Wendy. Computer Programmer developing VR games. 

MARY MARGARET: Gwen Shepherd. Teacher. Adopted Emma when she was 5. Married to David. Helping raise Henry.  

NEAL CASSIDY: Dated Emma while she was in college. Is coming to Storybrooke to win her back. 

PETER PAN: Peter West. Zelena’s teenage son. 

RUBY LUCAS: Luna Lucas. Sheriff. Volunteers at the animal shelter.

RUMPLESTILTSKIN: Mr. Gold. Awake. Owns the pawnshop. Doesn't remember Belle. Not financially stable. 

WENDY: Jefferson's foster child. 

ZELENA: Zelena West. Cast the curse. Mayor of Storybrooke. A strange glitch occurred while she was casting it, which landed her with a curse-son -- Peter --  she didn’t intend to have.
