Hello, may i ask you how you choose the pendulum for fulfilling the questions? Thank you (i'm very new at divination so i'm sorry if its an obvious thing)

I’m not exactly the one doing the readings for this blog (though I do have experience in this, just not here). I’ve also talked to Mod Leader and watched his methods of divination.

When Mod Leader chooses a pendulum, he first discerns if the question falls within the specialties of a particular pendulum. He’s able to tell if that’s the case because of how much he has conversations with his pendulums and how they respond to certain subjects.

If something doesn’t particularly fall under that, then he starts with the pendulum that is newest by his use and asks if it can connect to the question. If not, he continues through his pendulums by their experience until one says it can. If none of them can, he waits about a day before trying to answer the question again.

Now, I have two pendulums, myself. I tend to choose based on how I’ve come to bond with them or what the stone’s meaning is meant to represent. I have one made of Lapis Lazuli, which has generally been playful and makes me seek more of my answers by having conversations with it and gets me to draw my own conclusions through careful deliberation. Whereas my obsidian pendulum likes to be more grounded and to the point. So, if I want a more blunt answer, I go to my obsidian pendulum and if I want a conversation, I go to my lapis lazuli pendulum.

So, really what I’m trying to say, get to know your pendulums by having conversations with them. Figure out what subjects they’re best suited to answer and from there, you’ll have a better understanding as to which one to consult.

Hi! I figured the Oshaverse is pretty tricky for newcomers to navigate, so I figured I would make an account to help out with that! I plan to make a tag with short descriptions of each account, guides on how to make an oshaverse account, and other helpful tidbits! I might also reblog important lore posts!

I run a few osha accounts myself, so I'll start off by making my own posts with an example of how to make an "About" for the catalogue. After that, I hope to see other accounts submitting info for your own accounts! If you wish to infodump about the currently revealed lore for your account, I'll take that too!

OSHAVERSE FAQ

An FAQ for some common questions for the OSHAverse. Note that this is NOT a hard guideline or anything, I am just one person and the OSHAverse is full of interesting, unique people with their own thoughts and opinions!

What is the OSHAverse?

The OSHAverse is a roleplaying universe set around the “OSHA building”, and related areas. It encompases multiple ‘realities’, so basically anything goes, and it has no overarching storyline; everything is character focused. The OSHAverse is basically a setting where characters who would be seen as “OP” are common, and as such are more balanced and able to work easily. The building itself is frequently seen as a sort of genus loci - a living location - or other anomalous area, which adds to the experience.

Where/when is the OSHAverse set?

The OSHAverse has no strict setting or time, though it’s generally seen as being approximately modern-day. The OSHA building contains an overlap of multiple realities, so it could conceivably be anywhere, anytime. For example, in one reality, it is a location-hopping area that was originally founded in ancient mesopotamia. For others, it varies.

What is the common lore of the OSHAverse?

The only real common lore is based around what characters currently exist in the OSHAverse. For example, there are grounds and a groundskeeper (groundskeeperosha), a cafeteria with two cooks (osha-cafeteria-worker), and many departments. The past of OSHA changes based on the character asked, due to OSHA’s inherent crossing of realities. Some soft lore is that realities were potentially crossed due to the creation of a device by Alam and (At the time) Ellasyn, (Found on osha-janitor and osha-embroider-department as Alam and Embroidery/Hetemit), but this can easily be ignored.

Why is it based around OSHA?

The OSHAverse was originally created due to the deletion of oshaofficial, and as more and more people became interested, it became more and more complex.

What kind of characters are in the OSHAverse?

The characters in OSHA vary from Eldritch beings, to humans, to vampires, to energy beings shaped like hedgehogs. There are no ‘typical’ OSHA characters, though they tend to be very powerful, or otherwise ‘Special’. Of course, the usual character rules apply, but in general they are more powerful than characters usually are. Most are OCs, or in some cases Self Inserts or “Metabeings” - more like Author Inserts, to be brief - but some come from pre established media, such as Eteled from wiiosha, or Pures from hallowed-osha. 

How do I interact with the OSHAverse with/without my own RP blog?

Generally, just as you would interact with any other RP universe. As far as the OSHAverse goes, any character could visit, since many realities overlap there, but it really comes down to personal preference for each account. As a non-rp account you can reblog posts or send asks - sending asks is highly recommended!

How do I join the OSHAverse?

Joining the OSHAverse is easy! Simply make an account and begin sending asks to other blogs! I have a new account advice tag HERE but it’s really just a recommendation. 

What do I do if there’s already a character with my idea?

Overlap isn’t really a problem in the OSHAverse, but if you’re concerned about stepping on anyone’s toes, you can always have them either join that person’s department, or just message the person in question and ask if they’re comfortable with your concept. There are a lot of unique ways to portray the same idea after all!

How many people/characters are in the OSHAverse?

The answer is quite a lot! Many people have multiple accounts for various characters, so the character count is a lot higher than the amount of people running them. I have been attempting to set up a catalogue of accounts but it’s… a lot harder than you would think.

How do I set up events/lore with people?

Messaging people is the way to go! Discuss things with people before you do things! There is a discord for OSHA, which makes discussing events or lore much easier, but if your lore or event doesn’t rely on other people, you can just start it! Making sure other people see it can be tricky, but I recommend sending asks about it! (EG, if the event involves your character being cursed, send asks as the character displaying traits of the curse.

How do I get my new OSHA account more seen by others?

Asks and responding to threads! There’s no one way to get seen more, but proactively interacting with other people will help a ton!

How does the OSHAverse interact with the Showerfam/BDU?

Generally, the OSHAverse is quite flexible, and can interact with any other ‘universe’ without problem. So generally, interactions are as per normal, depending on the characters! Some cross over easily, others less so. It’s a personal choice!

Hi everyone! Just a little housekeeping announcement! While characters are generally very powerful in the Oshaverse, godmodding is still a thing you should avoid! If your character is "Unbeatable, all powerful, will beat everyone" then... it isn't fun to rp with you. There's a difference between having a powerful character and godmodding!

For example - Janitor (@/osha-janitor) is powerful because they

Have multiple bodies

Have the ability to create rifts

Can manifest items

Have a hammerspace

However I avoid godmodding because I

Make each of their bodies 'defeatable'

Have them unable to control their powers yet

Make them succeptable to mental/emotional manipulation

Make them prefer to avoid using their powers when unnecessary

These are, of course, not the only ways to avoid godmodding, but they're some of the ways I use! Try to make sure it's fun for whoever you're rping with as well as you!

Another thing that should be avoided is telling people what they can/cannot rp! For example, if you say "If you do [x] my character will [violent action to that character or others]"... that's not fun, or appropriate. People can do whatever they want with their character. It just makes people feel uncomfortable.

If you are unsure if what you're doing is godmodding, please feel free to ask! Remember, this is all for fun, and if other people aren't having fun rping with you, they probably won't want to keep rping with you. It's more fun interacting with someone if there can be a meaningful back and forth between the two of you!
