Yes, that was a qualm I had as well, was that anything containing the word “stupid” or any derivative thereof is marked as ableist.
To some extent I understand the logic, but I think doing that lacks nuance. (They also tag things containing the word “bitch” as #slur which is also very strange.) I understand perhaps wanting to protect people from language used to hurt them, but I also feel that if people are upset by these words, it’s easy enough to block them because it’s in text form. There’s no sense shaming people for words that are normal to everyday vernacular when tumblr savior already has concerned parties covered in a much more private and personalized way.
In any case, I’m so glad to see that we’ve been able to provide you with an environment where you feel comfortable speaking! I know I personally have not been super active lately, but I know the whole team will agree that we really value the feedback!
