Day 21- Favorite AU
Newsbians flower shop AU!!
Finally it was nearing nine at night, the auburn haired girl, Katherine, thought to herself. That workshop with the little kids was certainly tiring, but it brought joy to Katherine to know these children were enjoying the flower shop she owned. Teaching how to weave flower crowns was also certainly calming, especially when little pairs of two exchanged flower crowns of pink and red. The thoughts brought a warmth to the chest of the owner. Sticking a pale rose behind her ear, the florist began cleaning. Just two more minutes before-.
The bell above the door broke her thoughts. Sighing, auburn curled hair swooshed as a turn was made. The woman in front of her was tall…. Really tall. And… Oh, God, no, she's really cute. Tattoos painted the arms of the mysterious stranger, clothing of all black draping over her skin. Slightly curled brown hair is pulled up into a tight bun, a few loose strands coming down to frame her face. “I’m so sorry for bothering so late. My brother needs me to buy flowers to give to his old husband, y’know?” A smile crossed Katherine’s face as she nodded, tucking hair behind the ear that didn’t have a flower holding curls in place.
“Any specific type of bouquet you'd like?” Messing with the flower, still with a smile, the florist starts observing bouquets. The other woman with ink marking her body followed, pointing to one large mess of flowers. Pink, red, and purple petals clustered into a wrapped gift. Auburn curls bounced with the nod, as the large bouquet is handed over.
“That’d be $4.50.” Sighing with a glance to the dolphin tattoo adorning the wrist of her right arm, the strange customer hands over the money.
“Thanks for doing business with us at Plumber’s Flower Shop.” The message came out as if it were an impulse. Fingers tracing the lines of her palm, and a nod, and a turn- the stranger is gone. **** It's another day with the children. Giggling has already erupted in the small building between the young ones and the redhead. All of the kids are stacking up flower crowns on the top of the young flower lover’s head, trying to see how tall it could get.
The bell rings again.
Katherine turns all of a sudden, ruining the kid’s hard work, but right now, she could care less. It's the cute tattooed stranger again. Smiling too wide to be considered normal, the other girl springs to her feet.
“Do you need-?”
“I'd just like flowers for me, please?” Messing with the ends of the hair, the brunette grinned. “Plus, it gives me a chance to see you again…” The comment is added shyly, but it still makes the cheeks of the owner turn the color of the pale rose nestled in her auburn curls.
“I-uh-erm-Of course!” The answer comes stammered. Rushing behind a smooth counter, the florist grabs a bouquet. The flowers symbolise something. Love, crushing even. Katherine doesn’t even take mind as her golden-brown gaze meets Sarah’s dark brown. Shyly, the bouquet is handed over, as the same gold-brown gaze is averted to the slate grey floor.
Smiling, the brown haired girl places money on the counter. A green blur is seen and gone within a second, and the money is in the cash register. The brunette giggled, looking at Katherine. “You're cute.”
A blush settles on the other female’s face. “What!?” She squeaks out.
“You're cute!” Squinting at the name tag on the florist’s shirt, the cute customer adds, “You’re cute, Katherine.”
A heart pumps quickly in the auburn haired girl’s chest, before only just choking out. “Y-you are too…?”
“Sarah.”
“T-that’s a pretty n-name… It goes with your face. You have a nice face.” Noticing what came out of the stupid mouth of her’s, the florist makes her lips into a thin line.
“Your's ain't bad either.” There's a smile on the tattooed- no, Sarah’s- face. As Katherine hands over the receipt, it's quickly only handed back. “Call me.”
And no longer is the owner alive as the cute tattooed girl walks off. The owner is now a puddle of goop. **** “Sarah Jacobs… Ever since the day I first saw you in my flower shop I've been a huge hopeless lesbian. And then we started dating. My dreams were being fulfilled. Our first date was at this place. Amblican Park. On our first date you asked me to always be there. I promised you. On our second date here, for our one year anniversary, you asked me to always love you. I promised. Second year anniversary, third date here, you asked me if I'd protect and hold you forever.” Tears finally sparked in the auburn haired girl’s eyes. “I promised. But, tonight, third year anniversary, fourth date here, I've gotta ask something of you…”
Katherine stepped up from the bench, slowly leaning down onto one knee. It takes no genius to find out, which was why Sarah, a self-acclaimed genius, started tearing up. “Kath-.”
“Will you, Sarah Esther Jacobs, do the pleasure of making me the happiest woman on earth and marrying me?” It comes out of the florist’s mouth like more of a sob, which is why it was such a relief when the girl she loves screamed out.
“Yes! Of course!” A smile creeps onto the florist’s face as she slides the ring onto her lover’s finger. Sarah proceeds to pull the florist forward, meeting their lips in an unsudden, though most certainly welcome, kiss. Katherine wraps her arms tightly around her girlfriend- financeé’s- neck. Marveling the moment, adoring her wonderful girl. Holding and protecting forever. Just like was promised. **** “Ya think she’s happy?” Katherine looked up at her wife. They'd been happily married for fifteen years now, and they'd successfully adopted a kid when she was six.
“Most certainly.” Sarah assured, gripping her hand, giving a soft smile. They look forward. Their little girl, their little Buttons, has inherited the flower shop that brought her mamas together. She now has a girlfriend of her own, who she’d met when helping Katherine and Sarah out at the very same shop. Buttons waved to them out the window, before turning to swat at her girlfriend, Joey, and ducking away. Probably to start a tickle fight. It brought a smile to the married pair’s faces.
“It hurts to let go. I know, hon. But we’ll see her still.” The brunette promises, and Katherine smiles, tracing her fingers over the lesbian pride flag tattoo on the back of the now retired florist’s lover’s left hand.
“Promise?”
Their gold bands of promise clink together.
“Promise.”

Day 29- Magic
Newsbians Harry Potter AU
NEWSBIANS HARRY POTTER AU
NEWSBIANS HARRY-
Sarah happily glided along in the corridors, covered crate in her hands, nearing the entrance to Ravenclaw Common Room. It had always been quiet and peaceful there, the rest heading up to their dorms early. Not Sarah’s Katherine though. Katherine didn't stick her nose in a book or notebook all day, contrary to popular belief. She would always tell Sarah the word needed to enter, Sarah being a Hufflepuff. She was quite different than the rest of the Ravenclaws, Sarah knew that ever since their first meeting four years ago.. ***** Sarah felt the collision before she saw the girl, falling to the floor. Luckily, she stuck to the back, no one was angry at her for falling backwards. Sarah looked up, and this girl was panicking, extending a hand. Sarah took it, before examining the girl. She was also a first year, Sarah could tell. But dang, for a first year she was gorgeous. Sarah had seen the other first year girls, none of them were that nice looking. Not even older girls. But this girl? Completely different story.
Her auburn curls were what struck Sarah first. Falling across her shoulders and probably falling near the top of her back as well. Next thing that struck Sarah were her eyes. They were a golden brown, it reminded Sarah of a beach sunset. They seemed to hold the depths of the very beach’s crashing ocean in their golden brown beauty. And then there was her mouth. The girl had attempted a smile, it came out in an awkward quirk of one corner of her lips. Sarah found it cute, and endearing. It was as if she had to keep a joke secret.
“I’m Katherine.”
“Sarah.” ***** “Guess who’s home!” Sarah smiled softly as she got into Ravenclaw Common Room. Katherine looked up at her girlfriend from her spot on the couch, smiling widely.
“Saz!” She practically leaped from the small couch, engulfing herself into Sarah’s arms. Sarah laughed quietly, it was barely heard, as she set down the crate. Stroking Katherine’s hair seemed a much better alternative to clutching that crate. She loved the feeling of Katherine’s curls wrapping around her finger, just making them curl up more. It was calming to Sarah, as well as Katherine.
The only thing that interrupted their moment of savoring each other was a small sneeze. From the crate.
“You didn't.” Katherine pulled away from the hug, staring at her girlfriend with disbelief. “You didn't bring Cinder.” She clarified, still staring intently at the brunette. Sarah gave a sheepish smile, picking up the crate and taking off the covering. There was a small grey dragon inside, who sneezed again as the covering came off. Smoke came out of her nose as she did. The small dragon looked up with wide excited eyes at Katherine, clawing her claws at the crate’s bars.
“Aww, look Kathy, she does really like you!” Sarah beamed, smirking at her darling all the while. The small dragon and Kath didn't have the best track record. Last time Cinder visited she did start eating off the edges of Katherine’s hair after all… ***** Katherine squealed. Not in excitement or glee, but fear. “Sarah! Get your mischievous little dragon off of me!” Katherine demanded. The small grey dragon was chewing at Katherine’s hair, flapping her wings as she flew up to Katherine’s fringed bangs. “Hurry!”
Sarah turned with a sigh, going over and grabbing the dragon, Cinder, from her place midair. “Sorry, doll. But I can't help her appetite.” She gave Katherine a soft smile, along with Cinder, who gave her an apologetic growl. Reaching into the satchel around her waist, she gave Cinder a few rats to eat. Cinder didn't go fast, she just continued apologetic growls as she slowly chewed on the rats. “See, she's sorry. Plus, how could you stay mad at this lil’ thing?”
Katherine smiled that secret smile, where one corner quirked up the smallest bit. “You're right. Plus, she belongs to you. How can I despise something of my wonderful girlfriend?” Katherine smiled, getting up and placing a kiss on Sarah’s cheek. “You're forgiven for owning such an evil baby dragon.” And with a giggle, Katherine set a light kiss to the scaley top of Cinder’s head. “You're forgiven too.” And Cinder gave a small noise of happiness and content as Sarah placed her back in the cage. She'd now be able to properly kiss her girlfriend. That was always a plus. ***** “Like she really likes me.” Katherine rolled her eyes playfully, gently leaning upwards to peck Sarah’s lips. She pulled away far too quickly though, starting to call quietly for her owl. Blizzard the owl was a gentle creature, not the least bit hostile. Sarah admired how Katherine had such a docile creature. Their pets seemed to match with them, in a way.
Sarah was fun loving and a bit mischievous, always messing with the Slytherins and other rude students of Hogwarts. Meanwhile Katherine was calm and mostly quiet. Only opening up around those she loved. Just as Katherine did with Sarah. Just as Blizzard does with Katherine.
That same moment, a brown speckled blur flew past Sarah, and the blur landed on Katherine’s outstretched arm. Katherine loved her speckled owl, with most of her heart,(all of her heart’s love is for Sarah, obviously). She had named Blizzard for the day she was adopted, on a chilly winter night, snow falling in quantities unknown. Katherine saw the scrawny owl, and got her. It brought a smile to Sarah’s face anytime she brought the story up when cooing to her owl. It reminded her just how cute Kath was.
“Did you get Blizzard’s letter today? I sent it during Potions.” Katherine asked, sitting down on the couch again, Blizzard nuzzled in her lap. Sarah smiled, sitting beside her.
“Yep!” Sarah beamed. “You get the Chocolate Frog?”
“Mhm.” Kath hummed, lying her head down on Sarah’s shoulder. “This is one heck of a secret we’re keeping, huh?”
The secret was indeed big. Sarah and Katherine secretly exchanged notes with Blizzard as the message deliverer. Katherine owned an invisibility cloak, which she put over the young owl so it couldn't be seen. Katherine would send Sarah letters. Sarah would send Katherine treats.
“You're just now realizing that?” Sarah joked, poking at Katherine’s side. A light breath of laughter came out of Katherine, a majestic sound. Sarah continued, moving her hands to both of Katherine’s sides and starting to trace patterns into her sides. Just to make her giggle and snort and laugh, which worked. Sarah knew it would… ***** “You can’t stay mad at me forever, Kath.” Sarah leaned on the other side of the chair they were sharing, peering at her girlfriend. Katherine was faking mad for some stupid Honeydukes argument they got in.
“Watch me!” Katherine stuck out her tongue, turning away from Sarah completely. Sarah smirked, she didn't know if this would work, but Kath just gave her this feeling it would… Sarah extended her hands, stealthily slipping them under Katherine’s Ravenclaw robe so her hand met the fabric of Katherine’s white shirt. Without any warning, she started tickling her. Moving her fingers in miscellaneous patterns on her girlfriend’s side. Katherine responded immediately, shrieking with laughter and giggles, and gosh those snorts.
“Stop!” She wheezed out between shrieks and giggles. Sarah cocked her head to one side, as if she were thinking it.
“Let me think- no.” Sarah grinned, moving her fingers quicker and quicker with even more patterns on the Ravenclaw girl’s sides. Katherine had tears falling down her face.
“Sarah, please stop! You'll do it cause I love you and you love me!” And with that, Sarah wielded her attack, smiling as Katherine buried her head in Sarah’s chest. “Love you..”
“Love you too, Kitty. Utterly.” ***** “I love you!” Katherine cried out as Sarah continued the current attack. Sarah smiled, taking her hands and shoving them back in her pockets. Everything was peaceful. Katherine’s last giggles fading away into the air, Cinder curled up in her cage sleeping, and Blizzard, nuzzled against Katherine’s foot on the floor, also asleep. Sarah looked over at Katherine. A yawn split the auburn haired girl’s features. Sarah smiled softly at her.
“Tired?” She asked, taking Katherine’s hand. Katherine smiled sleepily, leaning onto her.
“Mhm…”
“Then sleep.” No more words had to be spoken, Katherine had already drifted. And already tangled up with Sarah too. She clung to Sarah’s arm, with her head resting underneath the arm, and her legs thrown up on Sarah’s lap. Sarah smiled, putting a hand on the small of Katherine’s back, and her head on top of Katherine’s own, and allowed herself to drift.
Everything was magical and perfect.
