It's a ship about betrayal and forgiveness, giving second chances and coming to the realization that people aren't as simple as you thought they were. It's light banter and heart-felt talks under the stars, and learning to let people in again. It's humming tunes, sorrowful music and lullabies that talk of the sea, and of a future that has yet to come, but is full of promise anyway. It's about learning to love again, and finding your soulmate, and making the right choices this time around. It's about holding into the past, but not letting it rule your future, and learning that maybe you deserve to be happy too.

AU idea that Maglor is a music artist living in a flat crampled between buildings in the city centre, and his balcony door opens exactly above a bus stop that no one ever uses.

His flat is almost bare, save for the papers lying all over it, scribbled with notes and crossed out lyrics. He’s the guy next door with the large furry dog, who goes around in a dirty shirt, baggy jeans that barely reach his ankles and never wears shoes. He leaves all of his windows and balcony doors open in the summer, and even in the winter the kitchen window is always open.

One day Daeron moves a block away and starts using that abandoned bus station to go to his work. At first he’s very surprised but impressed at the singing, that unknown to him, comes from Maglor’s apartement, because he likes to sing all the time. It becomes kind of a routine, to hear the singing every day as he waits for the bus. He’s come to refer to it in his head as the “angel’s voice” because Maglor’s voice is just that good.

One day that the singing has stopped for some reason and Daeron is both concerned and disappointed, Maglor takes out the trash, barefoot and singing in a low tone. Daeron has to take a moment because a) this is the guy whose voice sounds like an angel’s and he looks like a homeless person and sings effortessly while Daeron needed years of lessons and he’s jealous; just a little bit. And b) he’s so hot Daeron loses all his ability to function.

He finally gets himself together and goes to talk to Maglor, but it turns out he’s rude and arrogant, and Daeron has lost the bus, and somehow he admitted to be being part of the Doriath Opera House, and did he just invite Maglor to see his performance next Saturday? He’s so screwed.

Summary:

Never trust a survivor, until you learned what they did to survive; that’s what my father used to say.

Me? I was a coward. I drowned in my lovesick self-pity for years, avoiding all the battles; the war that raged everywhere around me. I survived the war because I was a coward; because I never really participated in it.

He? He was a soldier. Some say monster- I used to as well. He was not only in the middle of every single battle, but on the first line of attack, each and every time. Some of -most of, really- the battles were his fault; his family’s fault. Everybody knew he had killed more people than I ever got to meet. ... or in which Daeron meets Maglor again, and things are different than they used to.

Cave 💜

This is slightly late, but I had to somehow balance the power of the knowledge I’m about to unleash.

The other mods and I came up with the Sex CaveTM in one of our various convos. Basically, in the beach Maglor used to hang out, there was a cave, but he never payed much attention to it.

So at some point Daeron finds him, skeleton-thin, dirty and definitely not healthy, and they start to hang out together. When they first met, each one hoped the other one would kill them; but when that didn’t happen, they started developping a complicated frenemies relationship. When it’s really cold they cuddle- ummmm huddle close for warmth, and slowly start to having feelings for each other.

Of course, it’s Daeron and Maglor, so it’s not like they realize it; much less actually do something about it. But it comes to the point where Daeron is gently brushing Maglor’s hair away from his face, and a little voice in his head pipes in saying “hey, that’s a bit romantic”. Of course, Daeron tells it to shut up and kinda forgets it (or tries to anyway) for a few years.

And so they basically just pine at each other for a couple of years, and finally Uinen and Ossë get sick of all the sexual tension, and set them up. They end up in the cave, and they’re just talking, but suddenly they’re kissing and then things escalate if you know what I mean. 

The cave is adopted as ideal for that part of their relationship, and is internally named as Sex CaveTM by both parties.
