DAERON AND MAGLOR (WIP)

apologies @daemags day, i misread the date and am afraid i have nothing bespoke to offer, only this cropped WIP section from a much larger 20-person mereth aderthad classical painting i’ve been chipping slowly away at for a couple months now!

this section shows daeron and maglor judging each other’s poetry: maglor’s parchment reads ‘how much poetry can you even write about being a cuck’ as a placeholder but will be replaced with something equally bitchy but more timeline-accurate. daeron’s own notes will read ‘the noldolantë is naught but a tyrant’s lullaby’.

also features the new maglor design i’ve landed on for this painting, aka ‘wouldn’t it be funny if he had the temperament of nerdanel but looks so much like fëanor that it gives him, curufin, and fëanor himself a complex’. fëanorians are in black here, inspired by from charcoal to nigrosin by @angamaite-der-ritter, which states “the widespread usage of black dyes became firmly associated with the Fëanárian faction, starting ostensibly in the period of Kanafinwë Macalaurë’s regency” (though i did give their clothing red accents to distinguish them from other characters in black, and idk yet what i’ll go with when i paint in their circlets).

For @daemags DaeMags day 2026! I have a vision of Daeron binding Maglor with seaweed on the beach. While they fuck. On the beach. With sand in their cracks. Please notice both of their chest hair. Why is Maglor’s pale ass not sunburnt? Maybe because he’s an elf I dunno. This is my second time drawing Daeron and I really like this design for him and his big brown eyes.

And a close up. I changed Maglors’s lyre from the first sketch to this one made of turtle shell. I think it would suit more to the hermit wondering the shores for hundreds of years

Longing

a double drabble written for the 4/4/26 SWG instadrabbling session for the prompt: We are far from perfect / but perfect as we are / we are bruised, we are broken / but we are goddamn works of art

How unfair, Daeron thought vaguely, that he was doomed to fade away while Maglor Fëanorion, dispossessed kinslayer, remained as full of life as he had been when they’d first met beside the sun-spangled shores of Ivrin. Oh, how he had sparkled then, decked out in garnets and gold, with hands that strummed the strings of a harp with as much precision as they wielded a sword. Daeron had worn pearls and silver, and the finest silks that Doriath had to offer—though he had been heedless then, and brought them home covered in grass stains.

They were a very long way from Ivrin now, and Daeron could not remember when he had last seen jewels or touched silk.

Maglor sat beside him under the tree. A river flowed along at their feet, small and glimmering gently in the greenish light under the trees. “I should tell you to go away, Kinslayer,” Daeron said.

“I should tell you to seek the Havens,” said Maglor. “Does the Sea not call to you?”

“They say your voice is like the Sea,” said Daeron. “Maybe that will be enough.”

Maglor began to sing, and for the first time in years Daeron felt warm.

daemags looks different when you remember daeron coined an alphabet. maglor’s dad coined an alphabet. daeron is always better regarded than maglor in terms of artistry. maglor’s dad is the elf that no one can outdo in terms of craft. everyone give it up for maglor’s daddy issues. maglor’s daddy issues everyone
