[A news post, dated July 1st, 2025. At 3 A.M. that morning, Castelia City was the victim of a terrible disaster.]
Flying Pokemon of all sorts were set loose in the sky, and all used an unfamiliar move that mimicked Rain Dance. They summoned a storm that appeared normal at first. It quickly grew to span the city, with darker clouds near the center. The rain seemed to be acidic, with people and Pokemon sustaining burn-like injuries on contact. An abnormal amount of lightning struck during the storm, seeming focused on wherever living beings were centered.
The rain lasted for two hours exactly. The flying Pokemon who caused it attacked anyone in sight for the duration of the storm. People were instructed to take cover and remain indoors as much as possible, but even with that warning, the Pokemon went so far as to fly through windows and break them to attack the occupants inside. Various attempts were made to stop this catastrophe, but none succeeded. Not even Pokemon with the Rain Dish or Dry Skin Abilities could withstand the rain, much less long enough to defeat the flock responsible.
Just as quickly as it started, the disaster stopped. The flying Pokemon all left, despite having been circling the city for the entire duration of the storm. The maelstrom faded away. People and Pokemon were no longer in danger upon stepping outside. Since then, at least four fatalities have been confirmed in humans, and many more in Pokemon. There are few leads as to why this happened, but some brave souls managed to capture photos of what appeared to be a human being standing atop the Game Freak Inc. office building, seemingly unaffected by the rain.
