Do you have any sources or anything where I could read more about shretlech? I can't seem to find anywhere mentioning them except for this blog. It's interesting to me because a swedish friend of mine had once asked if we had any sort of house elves/spirits/etc in jewish folklore and I'd said no; but shretlech do seem to be our version of that; and given proximity of sweden to the balkans it might be related? I wanna learn more. My family pre-ellis was litvaks so they probably would've known about these little guys.

It’s hard to find info because google thinks you’re asking about “shtetl” (and if you google “yiddish elf” you just get that fakakte mensch on a bench toy).

Also, one time my ex told me a story about shretlech and they were little creatures that were cute mischievous I think…
