**acts like a serious optical reporter** Thoughts on the current university system in the U.S. ? What is good as it is and what needs to change in American Universities? 🎙🎙🎙👩🏽🏫👩🏽🏫👩🏽💼👩🏽💼
oh boy, i could say a lot but i’ll just make one point here.
btw, i’m going to refer to uni as college because thats what we call it here in the U.S.
COLLEGE IS TOO EXPENSIVE. and yes, i know inflation exists. but if you compare today’s college tuition to college tuition 30 years ago, its RIDICULOUS.
heres some facts for you
college tuition in the US in the 2014-2015 school year averaged at about $20,403. In the 1990-1991 school year, tuition was about $6,562. If you convert this cost to today’s value of money using an inflation calculator, that cost is $12,138.77
DO Y’ALL HERE WHAT I’M SAYING.
If we convert money from back then to what it’s worth today, college became an average of over $8,200 USD more expensive in a little over 20 years!
And even back in the 1990s, people took out loans for college that they knew wouldnt be payed off until their middle age or longer!
this is why i was PRAYING for bernie to win presidency. (#FeelTheBern). He was going to fight for us to be able to afford college!
but political opinions aside, college is too damn expensive in the U.S. I am so so very fortunate and privileged to have a decent sized college fund. I can’t image what hell some people have to go through trying to pay off loans post-college.
thanks for coming to my TED talk (lmao!), and thanks for asking (:
