I'd really love to fix The Sims 2 Holidays Mod but I can't figure it out😖

I really love the concept of Piqiwi's holiday mod but it has quite a few bugs unfortunately.

I successfully managed to fix sims getting paid for days they wouldn't have been working thanks to @nopke.

And, @jellymeduza implemented a workaround for the problem that it causes the walk to work interaction to be missing completely.

But it has more problems I haven't been able to resolve yet.

From my experience, once a holiday has happened, the sims work schedule will never actually restart, so even on a non-holiday day, there'll be no 'sim needs to be at work in one hour' and the carpool will never show, not until I force off-world errors with the batbox.

Another annoyance, especially with the community time project, is that if the sim is off lot on a holiday at the time they'd usually get paid, they will never get their holiday work pay.

Who else uses this mod? Who else has experienced these problems? Does anyone know how to fix them or have any ideas about how to?

First, thank you so much for your mods. If you're taking mod suggestions, then there's a mod idea I would love to have in my game. The mod would automatically distribute items or skills to inactive sims. For example, I could give every Artistic sim a sketchbook in their inventory or/and make them at least be in level 5 of the Painting skills. You could filter which sims based on their gender, age, traits, job, skill level, etc. to distribute an item to their inventory or give skills to them.

I don't take mod suggestions, however, I can offer a couple of solutions to what you're looking for!

Lyralei (known as GreenPlumbbobLover on Tumblr) has made this mod (Mod The Sims - RPG Manager - Edit your Bin sims, towns and Active household!) where you can distribute skills among other things like money, careers, pets to the families in your town.

I'm sure there's also a way to do something similar via. Nraas Story Progression and/or Master Controller. You could put the sims that you wanted into their own castes and then deal with them accordingly.

And in terms of item distribution, if you wanted to be creative with it, you could use my club mod to add the sims into a subscription-only club, and you could use the subscription gift feature to get the items to them. Or create a formal gathering club and choose a skill to increase.

However, what I recommend the most is: learn how to mod! You can't count on anyone else to make mods that fit every need you have, so what better way to get what you want than to do it yourself! (That's what I did lol)

Information on revision 654 (SVN)

Read before updating!   KFreon has been working on rewriting some of the toolset functionality for months, pulling the texture tools (Texplorer, TPF Tools) and Modmaker inline code-wise and making it more universal across all three mass effect games. Today he has released the first revision featuring this update, read more about this update here. As this is a mayor overhaul we expect there are many issues across all tools that must still be addressed before this overhaul is polished and ready to be moved to the SF.   What this update needs is testers, and lots of them.   My advice for the moment would be to keep a copy of the latest revision before the overhaul for anyone that wants to simply apply mods and tpf's to their games for playing purposes. This revision is not meant for people that simply look to mod their game with as little hassle as possible. For mod creators, .mods will currently lose compatibility in the new rev due to some changes in the script. Script compatibility is on the list of things to be added but as it's not yet included in this REV, don't update your mods with it or advise users to use revs above 653 for mod application as of yet.   If you would like to help us iron out all the issues with revision 654, download this version of the toolset and keep it separate from whatever revision you are using to apply or create mods atm. Pick and choose which toolset release you want to use, be it the new rev for testing purposes or the old rev for mod creation or application of mods.   Help development by making detailed bug reports for the new revision! I've written a post on proper bug reports here. Note that there are three new sticky's under the bug report section of the official ME3Explorer forums. One for TPF Tools, Modmaker and Texplorer. Please post bug reports following the guide in the proper thread.

Hello, I read somewhere that is was safer to use a version of me3 explorer under rev 623, and the one I'm using is version 0107k. Is it good? Because I don't want to encounter problems like textures which aren't loading... Oh and sorry if the question seems stupid :/

No, I don’t know where you read that but my advise would always be to use the latest version (SVN rev 653 0108w). As to there being problems installing mods, no rev is bugfree but the latest release is the only version you can get official support for and you will be advised to update to it if you ever run into issues and report them to the me3explorer forums.

Personally I update all my mods to stay compatible with the latest rev, some others do not and this is a problem as some .mods created before rev 623 are not compatible with revs after 623. Similarly .mods created after 623 are not compatible with rev622 and below. Mind you, tpf’s work fine cross version.

Note that, due to changes in treescan in rev623 you have to rescan on a vanilla game if you plan to update. Make sure you make appropriate vanilla backups as per the first time setup guide.
