Hi there, good evening!! I'm not sure if this is something you are open to answer to, so feel free to ignore this ask with no hard feelings as I understand and value your personal time!
I'm a total noob when it comes to modding anything, never done it in my life, but I'm severely autistic and it came free with the package the audacity to think that anything is possible if you are crazy enough to make it real lmao, and I'm very determined (and the right amount of crazy) to make it real!!!
Recently had an idea to convert walking canes from ts3 to ts2 to play disabled adult sims, I have yet to read through the basic instructions I gathered regarding modding for the game and object/animation conversion (and also interactivr objects) so I know that it's possible. What I'm here for, is to ask you, not only as someone who has more experience and knowledge in modding but precisely because you made the ts3 to ts2 traits, these questions:
1) Do you think this would be possible based on the game mechanics when it comes to modding?
2) What steps do you recommend me to prioritize to be able to mod it? (For example, I know i that there is SimsPE and that I will have to learn blender as well, etc).
I mentioned the traits mod because I thought about the viability of doing it with the same mechanics (that I know nothing of so this is just a wild guess), attaching the walking cane animation to a Sim throught a buyable item (Maybe even add random debuffs in random days confort to simulate flare up days, idk).
Overall, just to make it clear, I'm not looking for others to do the hard work and have everythint spoonfed!! I'm 100% determined to learn evertyhing from scratch I'm just in need of some guiding from community seniors >:3!! And if you think you don't have the answers I'm looking for, but knows someone(or somewhere) that might, would you please send me their way?
Thank you for your time in reading this!!!
1. I didn’t make the traits. Hexagonal Bypramid made the traits. I just make mods that allow them to function. If you get a cane working, I’d be happy to add trait functionality.
2. It’s gonna take a lot of trial and error, not just reading and resources although those are helpful. But yes I think it’s possible.
3. Join TeaAddict’s discord! Another good one is SimForge where there are workshops that talk about what you’re interested in and Tea just started modding courses. Meshes and so forth. Personally I dabbled in animating and custom functional objects and even trying to make a possum npc instead of a skunk. It all kinda went sideways and I never picked it up again.
