When Dean Winchester follows a service dog who won’t leave him alone, he finds Cas Novak, passed out in a stairwell with a Christmas tree on top of him. A Christmas tree? In July? Who does that? Turns out that Cas does that. And once he gets to know the snarky, independent, handsome man, Dean can’t help but fall for him. A story about being seen.
Do you need something to satisfy your sweet tooth? Then you can’t do wrong with this fic.
There’s plenty of snarky Cas who’s still vulnerable around Dean. And Dean feels like he’s not boyfriend material and that people only like his good looks and not who he is on the inside.
Of course when these two meet, and Cas, who’s blind, can only see how Dean is inside, and still falls head over heels for him, Dean can’t believe this is really happening.
On the other hand, Castiel feels like he’s a burden, given his condition, so when Dean proves to him he loves the whole package, blind or not (curse or not anyone?), Cas hardly wraps his head around Dean wanting to be there for the good moments as well as the bad.
Like the summary says, this is really a story about being seen and loved for what’s on the inside. It’s the cake that matters in the end, not the frosting!
