The Prop Issue 11
Eddie had Steve on the bed, tucked into the blankets. He paced as he basically yelled into the phone.
“You have to get ahead of this, Chris. I promised him.” his frustration came out in his tone and his ragged hair, hands raking through it constantly.
“He knew what this could do. He knew the risks, Eddie. It was all in the contract to cover your ass if this went south. I am trying to hold them off, but that pap knows who he is and he is going to sell it for top dollar. You know how those vultures are.” He could hear Chrissy sigh. “Just prepare him. Be there with him. Maybe it's time to come out as a couple and if you both agree to void the rest of the contract, he will only miss the international leg and no one can sue anyone.”
“I don’t want to travel without him.”
“I know. But it will be up to him.”
This might just be enough to show Steve Eddie isn’t worth all this. He sinks against the wall, fighting tears. He isn’t worth Steve’s health. Steve had fainted. He had been tossed around in a sea of cameras and bodies. They hadn’t been careful enough.
He wouldn’t let it happen again.
Eddie was letting himself spiral. There was no way Steve would think he was worth all this. This was going to be the end of them. He was in love with steve. He couldn’t imagine life without him now. Waking up with Steve was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Better than his fame. He would give it all up for Steve. He would do that.
“Ed?” Steve called to him.
“I- uh- I gotta go, Chris. Call me if you get any updates.”
“Take care of him. I got this.” She confirmed and hung up.
Eddie walked back to the bed. Steve was sitting up, drinking from the water Eddie left on the nightstand.
“Hey, baby, are you feeling ok?”
“Yeah, sorry about that. With all the lights and the jostling, it took me back to the accident and it just overwhelmed me. I am so sorry.”
Eddie laughed, but it sounded angry. Steve winced. “YOU’RE sorry? What the fuck are YOU sorry for?” Eddie’s hand ripped through his hair. “I am so sorry. I am on my knees,” he literally fell to his knees at that. “I am begging for forgiveness that I let this happen. I should have been more careful.”
“Ed, no. Come here.” Steve swung his legs out and met Eddie in the middle, on the floor. “I am ok. I am fine. I was having a really good time.” He was blushing, Eddie noticed. “The song? Eds. The song.” And Steve was kissing him. Something he had been looking forward to before the mob.
“Wait, baby, wait. There’s more.” Eddie let out a big breath. “Someone in that mob knows who you are. They are going to sell the story with the photos they have from today and a few from the shows. Chrissy found out and called me. They are going to try to paint it as me taking advantage of you. Abusing you.”
“What?”
“They want everyone to think it's some sex contract, and I am blackmailing you to sleep with me or whatever. She is trying to get it stopped. If we can get the highest bid under a publication name, we can stop it. She has a friend, Freddie, who runs a magazine. She is going to work with him on it. But it all might go public, Steve, and I promised to keep you safe, to keep your identity safe.”
“I don’t care if they know who I am. I am a model, Eddie, it could have happened any time anyway. I am not scared of that at all. I am more worried you are going to be portrayed as a villain when this is not what that is. I am not a victim.”
“But the reason I started this whole thing…”
“Doesn’t matter. You were honest with me. We talked that out, we got past it.”
“I know, but-”
“No. No buts here, Eddie. Let them find out who I am, but let’s do it on our own terms.”
“You want to tell them about us?” Eddie asked. He was truly baffled. He expected to be giving Steve a ride to the airport by now.
“I love you, Eddie.” Steve said and he just froze. Too soon. Even if it is true.
“Steve?” Eddie sounded so small. Like he couldn’t believe his own ears.
“Fuck it. I love you. I am crazy about you. I have been, even before we started being together. I was in love with you already. I felt it from our first meeting. I was attracted to you, but then we got to be friends, and it made me fall for you.”
“This is too much to ask of you, Steve.” Kiss. “I love you, too.” Kiss. “I don’t want you to end up regretting us.” Eddie was crying. He didn’t realize Steve felt so much for him. He didn’t realize. “I have loved you for a long time.”
Steve pulled Eddie close. He held him there for a long time. “Let’s come out to the press before this can hit. Can Chrissy help with that? If not, Nancy has connections. She is a freelance journalist, too.”
The phone rang. Edde grabbed it. “Hello.”
“We didn’t get it, Eddie. The Sun got the highest bid.” She sounds so worried.
“We’re going to talk to the press. Get someone here in the hour.” Eddie said.
“You two are both sure? It is going to be a circus.”
“Yeah,” Steve grabbed the phone. “Rip up the contract. I will sign whatever I need to. It’s null and void per verbal agreement as of now.”
Steve hit the speaker button so they could both talk.
“Steve, you are an absolute dream, baby.” Eddie kissed his temple.
“Eddie, you are my dream.”
“As lovely as all this is, guys, we have work to do. Get camera presentable. No kink shit, ok?” Chrissy brought them back to the task at hand. “Steve, you wear a soft blue or navy, it makes you look softer. The gray slacks are a great choice. Eddie, you pull out the suit. You know the one. And I will have someone there in thirty.”
Eddie pulled his hair up in a bun and slipped on a charcoal color suit with a wine colored silk shirt and his boots. It looked like he was being serious. That was his serious suit, Steve realized. No one could think it was for show. It fit him perfectly. Steve pulled on the new sweater he had purchased and his gray slacks. He even slipped on his delicate gold framed glasses to complete the look.
“God, those glasses do something for me.” Eddie nipped at Steve's neck.
“That is good to know.” Steve smiled mischievously. He kissed Eddie and they took each other’s hands.
The elevator opened and a woman on staff showed them immediately to a conference room.
Reporters lined the rows already. Steve recognized the one from Rollingstone that interviewed the band not too long ago.
The rest of the band was there, all in khakis and different button ups that were all stylized but nice. Gareth had his mid length curls held back with a black headband like Steve used to do playing soccer.
Steve nodded at them. “Chris briefed us on what’s up.” Jeff said. “Sorry, this is happening like this.”
“It’s part of the risk. He’s worth it.” Steve answered. And the whole band smiled softly at him.
“You love him.” Gareth teased.
“I do.”
“Good, I didn’t want to have to kill you, I like you.” Frank added.
Steve couldn’t stop the laugh. They had become his people just like Robin and Nancy and Dustin were. They were his people now, too.
A guy Steve did not recognize called everyone to silence. He opened the mic to Eddie who had a prepared Statement that Chrissy had faxed to the hotel. It was on the podium.
“Thank you for coming here today with such short notice. As you know, Corroded Coffin is wrapping up the North American leg of the tour Saturday with RockFest. We are so happy to have been made a part of this annual mega concert and we are happy that the international tour starts in two months. We are going to spend our time getting some much needed family time. And my family has changed, recently.”
“We haven’t made any public announcements or anything so you all will be the first to know. Make sure you share our wonderful news. My boyfriend and I will be spending the break really getting ready for our new life.” He held his hand out to Steve.
“King, as many of you know him, is my boyfriend. His name is being leaked tomorrow, so I want you fine people to do the right thing and share our real story.” He adjusted his jacket and gave Steve a kiss on the cheek. Chaste and sweet, but he needed grounding.
“Steve and I go way back, actually.” Eddie started. “We went to highschool together but we didn’t hang out back then. We had different crowds we hung out with. I was fortunate enough to see him in the model agency portfolio when I was looking to hire someone to be my pet for this tour. And, as crazy as the demands were for that, Steve wanted to do that.”
“We have spent nearly a year together now, and a friendship was formed between the two of us. That friendship blossomed into more. Steve is no longer under contract with the band. That was dissolved by both parties mutually to keep things as clean as possible. But we went out tonight to have dinner, and we were blindsided by paparazzi. You all know how that can go.” A mumble of appreciation went through the crowd.
“They want to paint Eddie into an abuser, and myself into a victim.” Steve jumped in. “This has never been the case. Eddie and I just happened to get close and fall in love. There is nothing nefarious about the way he treats me. The story that will launch tomorrow is based on a facade that was built to draw attention and create talk for the band. Publicity. It is not the reality of life. And even if it was, it would be consensual and between two adults. No bad guy, no victim.”
Steve gave Eddie a chaste little kiss and Eddie finished out.
“We are together. We are in love. Please allow us time to continue to blossom.”
Questions started being fired at them. Eddie answered the ones he wanted to, looked to Steve to answer some, and then shot some down with just a wagging finger.
The noise never died down on its own. Eventually the man who started the conference, ended it with an “That will be all for the night.” The band and Steve were ushered down a back hallway and to an elevator back up to the suite.
The band stayed long enough to order and eat dinner.
“I was going to take you to the museum and then have a picnic tomorrow.” Eddie said after the guys left.
“Sounds like you had an amazing plan. But you know what else it means?”
“What?”
“We can have a picnic here and watch movies and talk and maybe- just maybe- you’ll get lucky.”
“Maybe? Please, you will hardly be able to resist me.” Eddie smiled.
“Oh you think? You think I am easy, Munson?”
“For me? Absolutely.”
“When you’re right, you’re right.” Steve tackled Eddie.
Their press conference aired on the ten o'clock news on every station they could get on the phone. Eddie smiled looking at them. The band often nodded along with what the men said. Gareth even looked a little teary at one point. Steve was ignoring the news, kissing all over the naked chest of his extremely hot boyfriend.
“Steve, I need some room service so I don’t pass out on you.” He was giggling. “Insatiable.” he sounded awed. Honestly, he was.
They’d already been through two rounds and he could feel Steve hard against his hip again already.
“Then you better call now, babe.” Steve poked his ribs. “Get a move on.”
Eddie waited until he heard what the anchor said about the conference then he called down and ordered them so much food, Steve started laughing.
“We might need more later.” Eddie said. “If you keep up this pace, I might not even get any sleep.”
“Are you complaining?”
“Absolutely not. Just thinking ahead.”
He pulled Steve close for another kiss. “If I take care of that, will it buy me more time to eat?” Eddie wiggled his eyebrows.
“Maybe.” Steve laid back and let Eddie swallow him whole. His hands went into Eddie’s hair. He tugged. Eddie hollowed out his cheeks and went as deep as he could for Steve.
Steve bucked his hips. Seeing the plush lips of Eddie Munson around his cock was like its own special kind of heaven. Eddie’s eyes watered a bit as he pushed himself.
“Don’t hurt that pretty throat, baby. You got a concert coming up.” Steve gritted between his teeth.
Eddie hummed. That pushed Steve over the edge. Eddie swallowed it all.
Steve pulled him back up and snuggled him until the knock came, then Steve got up to get the food. The man wheeled in the cart, loaded with trays. “Are you sure you got enough, Eds?” He teased the man.
“You’ll thank me later, big boy.”
He was absolutely right.

Model!Steve x Fashion Designer!Billy
Billy, who is out of his dad’s house and is able to express himself creatively and ends up getting into fashion design. He starts going to school for it, intending to specialize in punk and/or alternative designs.
Enter Steve, who started modeling as a way to support himself after getting cut off by his parents, who enjoys this line of work of being looked at and appreciated, who chooses all of his own gigs because he hates being bossed around. He’s hired to be a model for one of the students.
Of course, Billy snags him right away.
Plus, Billy branching out in his style because he wants to dress Steve in anything and everything, as long as Billy designs it for him.
For the forced proximity tropes list: how about riding the same horse or teaching the other how to do something from behind them? :)
Harringrove seems to be going through a cowboy!au moment right now lol I do love a horse-girl!steve (and have written him a couple of times already lol).
BUT
I’ve been blessed with this painting on my dash, so here’s some art studio boys (and I’m sorry that it ends with bullet points. I ran out of time and it blew up into like a full fic idea lol).

The giggles and taunts building up to the day about having a nude model in the studio went silent once the young men fully realized what they were in for. Anticlimax. It’s not like Aphrodite was in the room, and there was something humbling about being with a naked body for so long.
That was the first day. The lady was clearly a regular, based on how she and the professor spoke to each other.
The second day...was not a woman. And they were late.
Billy looked up from his station when the young guy rushed in, ready with apologies to the professor. Billy wondered if he was a student from another class, here at a different hour in order to make up a session - but then he went behind the folding partition at the back of the room. Reemerged in a robe and Billy had the minutes it took the professor to introduce their model to prepare.
Maybe the others did not have their Aphrodite, but Billy found it hard to breathe. The man sat on the makeshift furniture on the raised palette in the center of the room and slipped the rob off, letting it fall back in aesthetic ripples and lines.
Simply, he was beautiful. Moles as small as freckles dotted all of him. If his dark hair were curly, he would be a living statue from antiquity, but the straight, voluminous tresses swooshed around his elegant bone structure. He even had the prominently arched, Cupid’s lips.
Where did he find this guy? Billy wondered with a look at the professor slowly pacing around the room. Billy had to get started. They only had a few minutes of each pose, and if he had nothing to show for it, Billy did not want the judgmental scrutiny of his pages.
Fashion model Steve who has an admirer on the runway. Someone who always sits right at the front for the shows. Blue eyes watching from the shadows in ambiant lighting, or glints with his own beauty during brighter shows.
Steve, who has to come out as married when said husband reaches for his fingertips during a particularly intimate runway, causing Steve to smirk back at him and keep walking.
How very dare you @lovebillyhargrove
