Cold weather and Fast cars

We arrived in Delhi after an 8 hour flight from Hong Kong and was instantly greeted by the freezing 1*C weather. After organizing a cab from the airport we walked out to the car park and were already getting hassled to jump into cabs at “special” prices.

I thought to myself...”it’s begun”.

Unprepared for the cold weather we sat close to each other in the cab with no heating and hit the main road to the hotel.

I find the skill in driving here fascinating. Its about midnight and the streets are still busy with traffic. Each car has its own character, weather it be, dented, scratched or decorated in tassels or colorful stickers. Transportation isn’t limited to 2 wheels, 3 wheels, 4 wheels or even 8. The sight of people in carts being dragged by cows, donkeys or horses sharing the main road is incredible. The skill in driving here means you share all lanes, ignore lights, honk instead of indicate and drive as fast as you can. The roads are like a Formula one race.

Man Mo

Anyways, more to the point we walked past Man Mo Temple and proceeded in. Inside, the overwhelming smell of in scents burns your nostrils and you feel like you want to go back out side for air. This traditional temple had people praying, ringing bells and lighting in scents. It was spectacular.

Soho

The morning brought us cold, bearable weather as we sat down to a fantastic buffet breakfast. We checked out and ventured of to Hong Kong Island. To do so we walked to Central Ferries and bought tokens to pass. The trip didn’t take long and we walked through the mid ways ( walk ways between buildings, over roads) to Soho. Seeing as it was Sunday, shops didn’t open until 12 so we spent most of the morning walking and looking into shop windows. My over all impression was that Hong Kong was very Similar to New York. The night life, shops, tall buildings, shopping, busy streets, cafes and neon lights reminded me of NY. The only difference besides the Asian feel was the traditional methods of building giant buildings with bamboo scaffolds instead of metal constructions we see back at home. 

Soho can be found on Stanley St and Hollywood St.

Hong Kong

Before boarding our flight, I ran into Rachel (a familiar friend who lives in HK) in the security check point. This was accidental but I believe it was "meant to be" as she later advised me on places to go and see while I stayed the night in Hong Kong. She was most helpful as she drew me a map and planned my night and day. Without her guidance I wouldn't have seen the Ritz Hotel, had a drink on level 118 at the Ozone Bar, shopped at Soho or seen the Temple street Night markets.

Departure

The start of my adventure begins, with the opportunity to model for Chic models in India ( New Delhi) from my Australian based Agency Platform Models. Georgia my International Booker, organised a two month contract with Chic as a modelling opportunity to gain international experience and build on my portfolio.

What this means for those that don’t know, is I will be living in a model share accommodation and will go on countless castings in the hopes of landing jobs in the Indian Modelling world.

Fingers crossed as I embark on this trip. Already I have an overwhelming response of good wishes from everyone back at home and I hope to do you all proud. This blog will illustrate the world I’ll be living in from the glamorous to the “not” so glamorous.

I will post pictures, thoughts, stories and touristy stuff. Please ignore my terrible grammar and spelling and try to find the “beauty” in my “imperfect words”
