OLD SCHOOL VS. EDM?

I can say with great modesty that I am not the biggest EDM fan out there.  I grew up listening to my father’s classic rock music, my mother’s soul and funk music, and then moved on to incorporate hip-hop music into my portfolio as well.  Electronic music at the time just didn’t seem to interest me as much.  Perhaps it was the fact that most of the music seemed to happy and upbeat, I wanted something with more of a minor chord and more of a cool feeling that vibe to.  As a result I never truly appreciated the different forms of electronic music until I realized how popular it was across the rest of the world. Today, EDM is going through the same crisis that plagued rap at the end of the 90’s era.  The problem was commercialism and sales.  A lone wolf would come out with a particular style, and biters would be at their side ready to make a profit off of someone else’s work.  This epidemic is even found in EDM music as well – but since I’m not in the know, I tend to not see it.  I am probably blinded like the rest of the listeners who cannot tell what is original and what is not. http://traktortips.com/old-school-vs-edm/
