Vis a Vis battlefront II: the deluxe edition retails at $80, with the standard retailing at $60. Other than that, I don't get the anger. Literally a ton of games have MTX and stuff (like Overwatch) and no one's complained about a game with them until now??? I mean complained enough to get a company to shift policy, because I've been grumbling about them for years.
When I preordered the game’s deluxe edition, before MTX was removed, the game cost me $40. SO the doubling of the price clearly was an adjustment to make up for the revenue lost by removing the MTX system.
Which brings me back to what I think really happened here, which is the redditors (who in case people forget are gamergaters) rallied around focusing on ruining the game, and worked real hard at making sure all anyone talked about was the MTX instead of the actual game, because you can only play the story mode as a WOC and many of the trooper classes in game are not white dudes.
