17: fics you’ll continue next year. I would love it if you shared a bit of a teaser. Let us know what we can look forward to. (this is deskgirl, in case I never mentioned my weird main/side blog situation to you).
Oooh it’s youuu! Thanks for the ask, I’ll gladly tell you all about my wips. :D
So, I have a few. (jsyk I’m not a native English speaker and this is all unbetaed)
First, I have a prequel to Where Home Is, and Used To Be. The draft is finished, it’s 9k words that I need to rework and rewrite because I’m not really satisfied with a lot of it (no excerpt for that reason), and it’s about how McCree and Hanzo got together.
Second, I have the sequel to the fic linked up there + In His Absence. I have just a little bit written, and it’s about McCree seeing his mamá again, and Hanzo meeting her.
As he made to carry on, McCree caught his wrist. His grip was warm and gentle, and his thumb grazed Hanzo’s skin purposefully.
“What ‘bout a good luck kiss?”
Hanzo rolled his eyes, but gladly obliged. His left hand found McCree’s jaw, beard tickling under the tip of his fingers. Though his expression remained impassive, he almost let seen a smile as he left a quick kiss to McCree’s lips. McCree pouted.
“You don’t need luck,” Hanzo said, seriously. “I’ll be glad to kiss you when it doesn’t distract you from something more important.”
“Fair enough.” McCree straightened up, took a deep breath. “I’ll hold you to your word, darlin’.”
Hanzo’s eyes softened. McCree was rarely so. . . preoccupied. “I can’t tell you not to be nervous,” he said, trying to be reassuring, but not unrealistic, either. “I’m supposed to be the pessimistic one--but it’ll be alright.”
I also have a bodyguard AU. I don’t know if it’ll be a one-shot or multi-chap, it depends how long it’ll get.
Excerpt: “McCree,” Mr. Shimada said as he turned on his heels, staring at him. “Call me Hanzo. I cannot take more of this ‘sir’ nonsense.”
“Oh. Fine by me.” McCree paused, assessed the situation; how far he could go. Perhaps it was indeed strange, to be called sir for months, and months to come, by the person one shared a home with. As temporary as it was. He leaned against his own bedroom’s door, let his lips form a smile. “So, can I be Jesse?”
Finally, I have a canon divergence AU, sorta? Multi-chap, angsty, it’s my take on ‘Hanzo and McCree were a thing back when McCree was still in Blackwatch.’ The fic is set years later, after the Dragons and Reunion shorts. After learning who Hanzo truly was and had done, they didn’t part on great terms the last time they saw each other, and here they are ending up stuck together.
Excerpt (from chapter 3):
“How did you learn?” he wondered aloud.
McCree’s brows knitted together at that. The image of Genji revealing to Hanzo his true fate and Hanzo coming out of that meeting physically unscathed didn’t quite fit with McCree’s memories of the cyborg. Genji’s fury had been contagious.
Yet here Hanzo was, as flawless as he’s been back then.
“Huh. An’ here I thought he’d paint you a new one.”
And that’s it......for now.
