“I am NOT falling asleep. ‘m not tired at all.” Your lips felt so heavy, butyou somehow managed to mumble all that without snoring mid-sentence, which wasdecidedly an admirable feat. Especially considering how tempting it was toclose your eyes, even for just a second or two…

Rei’s quietlittle chuckle made for a sweeter lullaby than the train’s endless rumble. “Areyou really certain ? I can lend you my shoulder as a pillow.” Your inarticulategroan only made him laugh again, eyes shining with affection so sincere youcould only hide your reddening cheeks against his chest.

It wasn’texactly the most comfortable mattress, but his warm embrace and his soft, gentlehumming lulled you deeper into sleep, until you were barelyclinging to consciousness.

“I’m gonnadrool on you.” Your half-muffled threat wasn’t very convincing, and the soothingsound of Rei’s heartbeat was shaken up by his laughter for a moment.

“Please do,my love. I shall wear it like a badge of courage.”  Without even needing to open your eyes, youknew he was smiling— that gentle, loving smile you could never resist. His handwas the most loving comb, brushing your soft locks with quiet reverence.

“You betterwake me up once we’re there, or else I’ll….” Talking was too tiresome, and yourlips fell close as you drifted further into sleep. Rei’s chest was rising, thenfalling, in a hypnotizing cycle; one that soon had you abandoning all pretensesand briefly letting consciousness aside for a short nap.

Rei’s handstopped its loving motions on your head, whispering as to not wake you up from your flimsy slumber.

“I’m afraidI may not resist the temptation to join you in your dreams, darling…”

“… Why areyou staring at me like that ?” The question had been burning at the back of your mind for a whilenow, but you firmly bit it back until you couldn’t bear it anymore. Ritsu’sconcentrated little pout as his eyes dug holes on your face was tooadorable to ruin the moment that way— it was a rare, feline-like expression.

“No reason.”His voice was sharp, but you started to know the boy too well to fall forthat. The corners of his lips fell slightly, and his cheeks were the barest hintof pink. You were fairly sure he was only biding his time, but this once youwere too. Having an opportunity to tease the usually whimsical boy was too good a prospect to pass up.

“You sure ?You’re just staring at my lips for no reason ? Really nothing at all ?” Ritsuhuffed at your teasing questions, red eyes shooting you an accusatory glance.

“Don’tlaugh when I say it.” Sweet, sweet victory— he was finally about to give in.

“I promiseI won’t.” You smiled, more at the sight of his wiggling, uncharacteristicallyembarrassed form than at your recent triumph.

“Fine… I want youto kiss me.” The revelation came without surprise, but the sudden gravity onhis usually lethargic face made one thing clear : your little vampire was not joking around.

So you didn’teither, leaning in until his eyelids shut tightly and your noses brushed— untilyou felt the warmth of his lips against yours for the first time. Ritsu’sbreath caressed your lips in a small moan, and you felt them tug up into alittle smile.

Your hunch was correct, and he really waseasier to tame than he looked.

“U-Uh, is thiswhat it looks like ? Or am I just, um, thinking about it too much ?”Admittedly, that wasn’t the reaction you had hoped to a kabedon, but in his defenseMakoto looked mildly terrified. It was a miracle he was even standing, as hislegs trembled more wildly than jelly. You did pin him against a wall,true, but still. Not what you had in mind.

“Well,yeah, I guess. I don’t know, it just kinda… I wanted to try.” Damn it. Hisembarrassment was contagious, and now your cheeks were heating up. Makoto’sface was way too close now, and although you were almost ready to lean inearlier, now you wanted nothing more than to give up and run away.

“I-I think Isee what you mean… ! It’s like, you know, this unreachable ideal, kind of ?”You had no clue what the shaking boy was on about, but you knew him well enoughto recognize his trademark panicky babble. It also bought you time to decide thenext step on your hit list, so you were faintly grateful for his nervousnonsense. “Y-You know, shojo manga is always… something we want to achieve in real—"

“Hey, uh,Makoto. Would you mind if I kissed you ?” The poor boy was now flabbergasted, pinklips parted open in shock. “I mean”, you hastily added, “you don’t have to sayyes—”

“Really… ?”The panicky babble stopped, leaving the way for genuineness. Warmth blossomedon the blond boy’s cheeks, his bright green eyes open wide in wonder. “You’dreally kiss me ?”

“Yeah. Imean, I really like you.” The blond fell silent again, lips spreading in anincredulous smile— that of someone who can’t believe he’s not dreaming. “So yeah,I’d kiss you. If you want me to, of course.”

You didn’t thinkyou’d ever seen Makoto that radiant before. “I want you to ! I really want youto, I’ve been wanting that for a long time but I never thought you’d— I wasjust— oh, geez… !” 

It happened too fast for you to foresee it— Makoto lungedin, sweet lips crashing into yours. Your noses bumped, and his glasses smashedinto your face, but you couldn’t care less. It was all Makoto, his little laughagainst your lips and— why did the air suddenly feel so cold… ? What was thatsense of impending doom you could feel crawling—

“So you twowere here, huh. Hope I’m not interrupting anything, Yuu-kun.”

“Comeooooooooooon !! Why are you so meeeaaaan !” Trying to ignore Hinata rollingaround on the bed out of frustration was easier said than done, especially withhow focused you had on be on the TV screen. Your character was alreadysuffering enough in a deadly boss battle, and Hinata’s concentration-disruptivewhining was just the cherry on top.

“You’rejust being a big baby again ! I’m almost done, just this one fight—” Hinata’sinarticulate wailing completely drowned out any attempt at reasoning with him.

“I wannaplay with you now ! You’re so cruel to your sweet little boyfriend… Uuu, I’mbeing abused…” You may have been losing that boss fight by a large margin,but your boyfriend’s fake sobbing made you chuckle— you suspected the littlemonster deliberately chose his timing.

“You know,Hinata, I’m trying to teach you the world can’t bend backwards for your everywhim.” Your playful little jab had exactly the intended effect : Hinatapractically flung himself to you, clutching you tightly with both arms and legsin what he liked to call the ‘koala hug’.

“It’s notlike I’m a tyrant ! I’m just begging for some time together with you and I stillcome second to a game… What a tragedy…” It didn’t really matter anymore thatyour character fell to the ground in agony, and the ‘Game Over’ message waspromptly forgotten in favor of booping the overexaggerating ginger’s nose.

“As if youweren’t ignoring me yesterday when it was your turn to play. I even went tosleep alone— don’t tell me you forgot already ?” Hinata’s little giggles soundedlike a confession of guilt, and you couldn’t resist the temptation to peck yourtheatrical boyfriend’s lips.

“Yesterdaywas yesterday ! And today… I wanna cuddle lots and lots, y’know ?” Soon enough,you were held captive in Hinata’s embrace, his lips leaving little kisses allover your cheeks and neck, mercilessly attacking your most ticklish spots.

“Fine,guess I gotta surrender now…” It was hard to fake an afflicted sigh when Hinata visibly perked up, eyes bright at the prospect of finally getting what he wanted. ”Youmay do what you want, O Tyrant Beloved.” 

Hinata’s victorious chuckle soundedmuch less evil and threatening than he intended it to— a detail you kept toyourself. Resisting your boyfriend’s enthusiastic kisses and wandering caresses provedimpossible, anyway, given how touch-starved the boy was.

Maybe surrendering wasn’t too bad, once in a while…
