Remember Mogobe 🌱🌵
For anyone who didn't know Mogobe, what it was and how much it was loved by us - Mogobe was more than a virtual world.
It was where we would meet in the afternoon and chat with friends in complete anonymity.
Each user had their own pseudonym, and we were surrounded by good friends and a supportive community from every direction.
I remember I would just wait to get home from school to log on to the Mogobe website and play.
Mogobe was the safest virtual world for kids in my time when I was 14. An educational site with values, friendship, respect for others, experiences and challenges.
In Mogobe everyone could adopt a pet called “Bomug” or Loumin”, participate in any competitions and events, collect in-game money from games and manage their wardrobe, and honestly - that's where I learned to manage finances for real life today.
But in May 2018, the site was shut down for some reason.
As a result, thousands of children were saddened to say goodbye to their virtual friends they had known for years. And honestly, so was I.
Since then, my brother and I decided to commemorate the site by uploading memories to social media.
We called ourselves the Mogobe Siblings, and collected all the screenshots we could find on our computer before the site ended its life.
We will remember Mogobe.🌵🌱
