Im enjoying a nice, steamy neck hotpack at the end of a long day... week?? Year? I can't keep track of time anymore. But I can put some nice heat to sooth my tired, stiff, painful tissues. Twice today, I had to remind people that they can and should be using moist heat on their neck and shoulders to alleviate stiffness and pain that appeared "out of nowhere". It's a simple and effective therapy to manage the typical myofascial congestion and resulting pain that occurs commonly this time of year. It is especially common as we shift from warmer weather to colder weather for people to become exposed to the colder temperatures, especially around the head, neck, and shoulders, areas most vulnerable to cold temperatures. The moist heat softens restricted myofascial congestion made vulnerable from chronic strain and suddenly acutely painful with drops in temperature. The heat also reduces pain, and calms the revving nervous system, allowing everything to relax, circulate, and soften. If you can't get acupuncture or tuina right away, at least you can use heat. #moistheat #myofascialrelease #heattherapy #neckpain #neckpainrelief #torticollis #shoulderpain #painrelief https://www.instagram.com/p/CVzTrWyLa8B/?utm_medium=tumblr
