Week 12 - Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Would you rather have 7 fingers on each hand or have seven toes on each foot?

7 fingers. Grip strength!!! This would be fun to experiment with in acrobatics haha.

Would you rather go back to the past and meet your loved ones who passed away or go to the future to meet your children or grandchildren to be?

Go to the past, because I don't plan on having any children... oof

Would you rather know how you will die or when you will die?

When. I don't want to live my life in fear of some possibly bizarre thing related to my death, and if I know the exact time I can prepare in advance.

Week 11 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I low-key get annoyed when people say "you know" a lot, especially when lately I've been hearing it a lot in job interviews or recruiting events as part of answering questions. Like... especially in answering questions, saying "you know" almost feels patronizing at worst and weird at best since if they knew they wouldn't ask???

What motivates you to work hard?

Other people. This can be a problem sometimes, but I really thrive on teamwork and collaboration to reach a common goal. I find it hard to motivate myself, but I'm always really happy to help people out. Like, while I'm definitely guilty of procrastinating on my own work, if someone else wants to check homework with me, for example, I always end up getting it done much faster.

What would you sing at karaoke night?

I'm not sure tbh; I usually pick a Taylor Swift song since those don't usually require a high range and are pretty fun bops that most people know.

Week 5, Sunday

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My grandfather took me to the petting zoo a couple times when I was a kid, and my favorite thing to do was just sit with the baby goats (other kids?) and feed them lettuce. There's something really comforting about chilling with a tiny goat when you are also tiny.

Share a picture of your favorite animal

I didn't want to reblog hijack a post, but one of my favorite animals now is the seal, and I just reblogged a post of one of many reasons I love them! We love banana pose seals.

Week 5 - Saturday

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?

In terms of video games, I both play and watch YouTube matches of the mobile/PC game Identity V. It's similar to Dead By Daylight but without the horror aspects, and it's fun to play with friends, especially in these times.

In terms of sports, I practice acrobatics and ice skating casually at university, but I can't do either of those things now at home :/

Week 4, Sunday

What is your biggest tip to someone starting to learn your major/favorite subject/degree?

My primary major is economics, so I'll talk about this one! I've found that my experiences with economics vary a lot by professor or teacher - and it very quickly becomes harder to Google things as they become more specific. Read the textbook. Listening in class to absorb context is more important than focusing on writing everything down. Network when you can, to the best of your personal ability, because many economics jobs are heavily skewed towards networking in. Your TAs may also be your job references one day, so build relationships with both your professors and TAs.

What is your favorite film?

I'm a huge fan of Makoto Shinkai, so I love all his works. A Silent Voice is also really gorgeous. In non-anime films, I love the 2013 Great Gatsby movie and the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie!

What is your favorite book?

I don't have a favorite book, per say, but I do love Ryuunosuke Akutagawa's short stories, and Jay Rubin's translation of Rashomon and 17 Other Stories is quite incredible.

What is your favorite song?

Can't possibly decide, but I currently am in love with Welcome My Friend by OKAMOTO. (Anyone else upset that Fugou Keiji: Balance: Unlimited was postponed??)

Who is your hero?

My friends and family! I'm so grateful for all the love and lessons over the years. I hope to one day help even just one person how they've done for me. Mom, thanks for always being down to give me ridiculously aggressive pep talks. Tiff, thanks for putting up with my 7 am anxious calls about job applications, my 11 pm tea spilling calls, and everything in between. Cae, you're probably reading this, so thank you for the amazing puns, for always listening, and for the breathtaking writing you produce. I'm not even gonna try to name everyone else I love, but I always have lovely things to say about my friends!!!!

Week 4 - Friday, Saturday

What is your biggest tip for organising your study space/study materials?

I have this really nice stationery organizer my grandpa gave me for college! I love the color and it stores most of my pens. It also folds up into a box so I can take it with me places easily! Otherwise, my desk is pretty messy. I set out all my books for the day to the side on my desk, and everything else is shelved underneath.

My friend has a clever system where he has the top of his desk taped into sections so he always has his stuff in one consistent layout on top. I took a picture but I can't find it T_T

What is your best tip on how to relax?

Have a couple of activities to do or places you go only to relax. I stretch and workout on a regular basis, but I have a special yoga mat I only roll out when I'm just exercising for a break, not because I'm seriously training.

I also never study in bed; once I hit the bed, it's sleep time.

There are lipstick colors I only wear when working, too, so I can easily slip into "go" mode.

Basically, try to associate different things with work and play so your mindset can easily switch between the two. If this makes sense! Please feel free to ask for clarification!!

Week 4 - Thursday

What is the best advice you've ever been given (e.g. from a teacher or friend)?

Two things come to mind:

My high school English teacher told me to "never go where you're a second choice." At the time it was when I was considering my college options and he was telling me to take the honors program at Amherst over Williams, which I got waitlisted then accepted at. It's good advice for tons of other situations though - don't make big sacrifices for "friends" who don't appreciate you, do what sparks joy and not what you do out of obligation, and take the employer who will offer you better mentorship over a job that looks good on a resume but not in person.

The other is from my mother, who told me there's time to panic after things become disastrous. Aka, don't panic before the exam, study for it. You can panic after you've actually failed it - panicking beforehand is a waste of "what-if's" and anxiety.

Week 4, Wednesday

What would be your advice to you from 5 years ago?

Quit the prestigious dance school; you don't like any of your classmates or teachers and by the time you graduate, you're not even going to be interested in professional dancing anymore.

Just because you broke your ankle doesn't mean it's over for you and ice skating; it's ok to do things purely for fun without intense training and competitions.

The first five minutes of anything is the hardest; a good start, every day, is half the battle of long-term discipline.
