Andrea grimaced; she could feel the snow dripping down her neck, clinging to her hair and half-filling her hood with scattershot ice. Of course Molly hadn't listened; since when had her now-girlfriend ever taken no for an answer in matters of fun?

She whirled around; Molly was grinning in an annyoingly adorable way, snow-damp mittens fidgeting eagerly. "C'mon!" she called, suddenly waving. "Throw one back!"

Andrea went to tell her no, but something in the back of her mind made her stop. The old Andrea would never have stooped to something like this, sure, not without it being properly staged for online engagement, but the old Andrea wasn't here. No, the girl who was standing here, now, with faded dye flowing out from under her beanie, didn't care what people thought; she ate when she wanted, not when her mother said, and she said what she liked and loved who she loved and let herself be something more than the perfect model of her family's store.

And if she was going to make good on that, on the change in her life that had started from her throwing up in a Brighton Middle School bathroom, she was going to have to keep pushing that envelope. So with a sigh, her heart and face warm in equal measure, she reached for the snow.
