Hello there, as you may have noticed, I've been very absent lately (and I haven't updated IYKSFM since forever) and that's because i've been doing my thesis and it has been hell, but hey, I submit it this Tuesday so once I'm done be ready for more chapters!!
Jim wasn’t expecting that immediately upon his “death” he would want to be back with Molly Hooper. He had decided, quite early into their relationship before he’d come out as a full time criminal, that she was his and that he wasn’t going to put up with her being with anyone else.
He saw behind that innocent façade she put up. She saw through his as well, which was most intriguing. Molly Hooper knew more than anyone else thought she did and he wanted to have her all to himself.
That meant he needed to come up with a plan. A strategy of sorts to make sure she didn’t see him as the bad guy anymore. He had a long time to figure it all out, and in the meantime he had three different people put on her to make sure she stayed safe. Deana and Samuel and Tom. She didn’t need to know about that last one until later. He knew she’d learn to trust Tom and that would work to his advantage.
Eight months into his two years away he found her. The key to his plan.
Irene Adler.
He should have listened to the nagging feeling that she had still been alive. Especially with the way Sherlock had taken to her. That detective sure had a soft spot for the wrong women. First with Irene who was working for Jim and with him to bring said detective down. And now with Molly Hooper who would soon be his and would be working alongside him. She was going to be his queen one way or another.
The thing about Molly Hooper, is that he knows how her mind works and he knows that right now he’s been labeled as the bad guy, the villain, the criminal. He needed her to trust him again and he had just the way to do it.
Irene Adler was going to be the ‘worse bad guy’. And she was going to make it so Molly Hooper came running to him. She was going to make the small pathologist think he was an angel and her savior. Molly would be running into his arms before she knew what was happening.
He didn’t like that he needed to break her first, but if she wasn’t broken before he took over she wasn’t going to open up to him like he wanted. And Jim Moriarty was a man who always got what he wanted.
Irene Adler had been relocated to America but, like the adventurous soul that she was, she came back and Sebastian picked her up in Ireland while he was working a job. When he had brought her in and told Jim he had a present for him Jim couldn’t help but get excited. This was not something he’d have expected to land in his lap. He was so happy he even gave Sebastian permission to take the night off. He didn’t of course, because his life was with Jim but it was the thought that counted.
Jim walked down the familiar hallway that lead to what he liked to call his dungeon. Sebastian always rolled his eyes when he called it that.
Opening the door he walked in and flipped the light switch on, what he saw made him smirk.
“Irene. Nice to see you again.” He said nonchalantly like she wasn’t tied down to a table in the middle of the room with nothing more than a few strips of fabric covering her up.
She flashed him a wicked look and refused to speak to him.
“Oh come now dear. We both know that your decision to come back was a rather stupid one. This is your own fault.”
She didn’t like being called stupid and she didn’t like the blame for anything being put on her. And Jim knew that, so he was pushing all the right buttons to get her ready for his deal.
“I’d say fuck you, but you’d enjoy that too much.” Irene said and smiled at him.
“I think you would be the one who enjoyed that too much darling.” Jim had an arrogant look on his face as he knew he was correct.
He walked around the table and could feel her eyes as they followed him.
“To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you in person?” she tried to ask nonchalantly.
“Hm…I wanted to see how well you’d hold up being tortured.” He said and chuckled when she sighed in boredom.
“If that’s all you have darling I have to say you’re not going to get any information out of me. Torture is what I do best.”
Jim laughed a little too loudly and she quirked an eyebrow.
“What makes you think I want information? No. It would be so much more fun to torture you to death. What with you betraying and failing me.” He leaned back against the table and rolled his head to the side so he could see her trying to think a way out of the situation.
She was panicking and he could almost smell the fear in the air. It made this all the more thrilling for him. He knew right then he was going to get her to do what he wanted.
“You wouldn’t kill me…” she was uncertain but hoped he couldn’t hear it in her voice.
“Ohhh but I would.” He drawled out and walked over to his instrument desk.
“No one double crosses me and gets away with it Ms. Adler…” he picked up a particularly sharp knife and he heard her gasp. He smirked and ran his finger over the blunt side of the knife, no need for him to cut himself and get blood on his new suit.
“Wait Jim I can still be helpful to you!” she tried and batted her eyelashes at him. Didn’t she know he wasn’t interested in someone like her and her flirting was useless? Some people never learned.
“Is that right?” he asked in a bored tone. She started breathing heavier as he walked closer and she stared talking
“You know I’d do anything! Name it and it’s yours!”
He stopped and tilted his head slightly.
“Well,” he lowered the weapon slightly and then reached over and set it down completely “there is one task I could use someone with your particular skill set to help me with.”
“….What do I need to do?” she asked with slight hesitance in her voice.
His grin turned wicked and he chuckled for a moment.
“I need you to use your charms to bully someone for me.” He walked to the side of the table.
He leaned in and looked her right in the eyes. “I need you to look the devil and…” his eyes followed his hand as he toyed with the bindings on the side of her body.
“I need you to make me look like a saint.” His expression was evil and his smile matched.
She got a sly look in her eyes and her lips twitched up into a smile.
“I think I can handle that.” She replied with confidence.
He backed up and straightened his suit before turning and walking towards the door.
“Then I’ll see you in the conference room in twenty minute. Sebastian will be with you shortly.” He could swear he heard her laugh as he shoved his door open and carried on down the hall to his office.
That had been a year before his return and he was back now. Sherlock was securely in London, thanks to help from Mycroft Holmes. That had been an interesting team up to say the least.
But he didn’t care about that right now.
Jim was waiting not so patiently for Molly to be brought to him. Tom had been charged with that little detail because she trusted him.
Patience wise he wasn’t doing so well. He hoped for Tom’s sake that she got there quickly.
Molly was in her flat, drinking some wine to help calm her nerves. Jim…no Moriarty had shown up all over London and she was scared. That had been two days ago, and she was hiding out in her flat. Sherlock and Greg had been around making sure she was okay and that nothing was amiss, but they were both too busy to stay with her for very long periods of time. The policemen outside weren’t much of a comfort to her, but they were something.
The doorbell rang and she shuddered slightly, but it must be someone with the clearance to come up otherwise the police wouldn’t have let them up to her flat.
She set the wine glass down and went to open the door. Upon opening the door she saw it was her ex-fiancé and he looked worried.
“Tom? What are you doing here?” she asked as her face scrunched up in confusion. He awkwardly rushed to hug her tightly and she returned the hug, but she was still confused.
“Sorry it’s just…I’ve been worried about you. Your friend Greg said that you were in trouble because of what happened the other day all over…”
“Yeah, but I’m alright.” She interrupted him and closed her eyes, burying her face into his shoulder. She’d sort of missed being in someone’s arms and having someone there to care about her.
“Sorry to worry you.” Her words were quiet and he pulled back and shook his head a little.
“It’s not your fault, dear.”
She had to smile at his kind words and he smiled back.
“Would you like to come on a walk with me? We can go to that ice cream shop a few blocks down…”
She hesitated, but decided why not. He wasn’t going to hurt her, and with a tall guy no one would think to mess with her right? She had been locked up all alone for two days, she needed a break.
“Oh alright. Yeah that sounds good. Just let me go grab my shoes.”
“I’ll wait right here.” He said and watched her as she walked away.
Ten minutes later they were walking out of her building and she was assuring the police that she’d be alright for a few minutes and they’d come right back. They agreed but only after she told them that when she got back she’d cook them dinner.
Halfway through their walk Tom suggested they take a shortcut he knew and Molly got a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she trusted him so she nodded and followed him into a small alley way.
“Tom where are we…”
“You are really far too trusting. This was way too easy, the boss must just want you for your knowledge about dead bodies.” He muttered and she stopped walking.
“What are you talking about?” the fear in her voice was very clear to hear and he gave a slight sympathetic smile before grabbing her from behind, a hand over her mouth.
Struggling with all her might, she tried to get away, but a black car pulled up to them and he all but shoved her into it and shut the door.
Molly went to pull the door open but there was no handle for her to pull and she started to panic as the car started driving away. The amount of adrenaline running through her body was enough that she swore she could hear it in her ears.
Tom was working for someone…Jim? Did that mean he had never been hers? Never actually wanted to marry her? She felt the sadness wash over her, but the panic was much stronger and she thought about what she was going to do.
“No!” she cried out loud as she tried to open the door again and then grabbed her phone from her pocket. Frantically she searched for it, and only froze when she heard a chuckle.
Looking up she saw a woman she thought she might recognize.
“W-Who are you?”
The woman was slightly out of sight, the back of the car was too dim for her to see much. But half of her face was visible and Molly saw that dark shade of red lipstick she was wearing. The woman was smiling. It was an unsettling sort of smile and Molly didn’t like it at all.
“Oh little old me? I’ll be your host for the next few days.” She slowly slipped to where she was completely visible and Molly’s eyes got wide as the woman started speaking again.
“Irene Adler.” She gave a full grin and held her hand out to greet her with a hand shake.
Molly didn’t move, she was too in shock to move, and Irene rolled her eyes.
“S-Sherlock said you were dead…”
“He also said you count and that he cares about you, didn’t he? Actions speak louder than words don’t they, darling. So where is your knight in shining armor?” Irene knew she was hitting a soft spot as Molly immediately got defensive and glared at her.
“…What do you want from me?” Molly asked
“Alright then, we’ll do this the official way instead of the fun way like I wanted to.” Leaning back in her seat Irene looked Molly up and down. Why could Jim possibly need to look like a saint for her? The pathologist looked average at best with her looks. Irene knew that with a little work on the wardrobe she’d be a looker, but she was also too trusting, innocent looking, and on the wrong side.
“So Molly Hooper. Are you ready to give me every detail about your life?” she asked in a sweet sort of voice.
“Sorry…why would I want to do that?” Molly’s voice was unsure and hesitant and Irene couldn’t keep her grin off her face.
“Because if you don’t do it willingly I’ll have to force it out of you. That might be pleasurable for us both, love. But also very painful for you, and I’m sure you’d rather just be a good girl and cooperate.”
Molly looked extremely uncomfortable and pale and Irene knew she was doing her job well.
“I-I don’t know what information you think I have, but I don’t know anything that Jim Moriarty can’t find other places for half as much work…”
Irene started laughing and Molly felt her stomach drop.
“I’m not working for Jim Moriarty darling. With him sure. But not for him. You’re going to wish he was the one who had you by the time I’m done. I just have a little vendetta against your dear Sherlock Holmes. And you my little mouse…” Irene leaned forward again and looked Molly up and down
“You are his weak spot. And now I’ve got you. You’re going to help me get back at him, nothing personal. But I’m going to need every detail of your life to help make this experience all the more real for you. The worse off you are, the worse off he is. So you see? You really are important, and I’m going to crack you.”
Molly felt sickly lightheaded and frightened. This woman wasn’t working for Jim? So other people knew about her helping Sherlock?
She had the sinking feeling that she was going to meet some of them and there was a part of her that did wish is was Jim who’d gotten to her first. At least with him she was used to his face and sort of knew him.
“Sit back and enjoy the ride my little mouse. Because this is as comfortable as you’re going to get with me.”
Molly Hooper just wanted to go home.
Jim impatiently waited for a whole day before confronting Irene about Molly.
“Why haven’t you stared yet? You know I am not a patient or a forgiving man and you are stalling.”
“We’re waiting because the more time she has alone, the more she’ll hate me when I eventually do my thing and the easier it will be for you to look like a saving grace. You wanted my help, we play by my rules Jim.” Irene was sitting at a table, watching Molly through a monitor screen.
She’d been alone for nearly eighteen hours and she was starting to look worried.
“How much longer?” Jim asked impatiently and Irene chuckled slightly.
“Not much. The minute she…”
Right as Irene started talking Molly buried her head into her knees and started shaking from crying and Irene smiled.
“Tears. Perfect. Alright I’m going in. Keep in mind this could take a few days so don’t come crashing in there because your newest lover looks uncomfortable. She’ll be ready to love you back when we’re done here.” Irene gave Jim a cheeky grin but the criminal didn’t let one emotion show on his face.
“Just do your job. And do it quickly.” There was a threat in his voice that Irene took very seriously because she knew what it was like to be on his bad side and she never wanted to be there again.
So off Irene went into Molly’s holding cell.
When Molly stopped crying and looked up, she noticed the sound of the door unlocking. She braced herself and backed up unto the wall as far as she could.
Irene took slow calculated steps into the room and sat down on the one chair that was in the room.
“Sorry I haven’t been in here sooner, love. I’ve been talking with Jim. He’s not here right now, but once I told him you were here he’s changed some plans and he’ll be here in a few days.”
Molly didn’t know what to do with that information, but she had a feeling Irene wasn’t going to waste any time she had alone with her.
“Are you ready to talk?” Irene asked with a raised eyebrow and Molly continued to be silent.
She just wanted to go home, she didn’t want to talk to anyone.
“Oh, fine.”
The woman got up and opened the door, whispered something to one of the guards and he nodded before coming into the room and walking towards Molly who protested and struggled when he picked her up and placed her in the chair.
“No!” she argued, but the man was a lot stronger than her and she couldn’t get away from him.
He proceeded to tie her to the chair and she felt the tears welling up in her eyes.
What were they going to do to her now?
“P-please stop…” she all but begged as the man walked out of the room and she was once again left with Irene Adler.
“Hmm we’ll get to the part where you’re really begging, but not until later.” Irene got her things ready. She was going to get Molly’s worst fears out of her and the stories behind them all so she could more successfully torture her.
Molly hung her head and tried her hardest not to cry. Honestly she wished Jim was there. Maybe he’d be nicer to her…her head told her that she was being an idiot and her heart told her to keep on hoping she was right.
Jim watched as Irene started questioning his little pathologist. The first day resulted in nothing but Molly resisting and getting smacked around a little. He didn’t like it, but he did tell Irene she could do it her way, so he didn’t do anything about it. They were light smacks from Irene’s whip on her legs and they really just made her yelp and then whimper a little.
On the second day he wanted results and demanded them so Irene stepped up her game.
When she walked into the small room where Molly was still sitting in that same chair, still tied up.
Molly flinched when Irene walked over.
“Open your mouth my little mouse.” Irene said and held up a glass of water for her to see.
Molly was very thirsty, but she also wasn’t about to trust this woman. Irene smirked as she hesitated.
“Open up or I’ll force it down your throat…oh that sounds dirty doesn’t it. That’s for later.”
Molly shook her head and closed her eyes. She wasn’t going to cooperate.
Taking that as a no, Irene grabbed her face and forced the water down until Molly finally gave in and drank on her own. Her body needed it and she couldn’t resist anymore.
Molly gasped a little when Irene finally pulled away and she had to catch her breath.
She felt a little funny and she clamped her eyes shut.
“W-What was i-in that w-water?” she questioned and started breathing heavily in panic.
“A bit of a truth serum that I’ve been working on. It sends signals to the brain and if you lie to me it’ll show in some physical way, a blush or a twitch. And for every lie I get…” Irene went over to the small table behind Molly and grabbed a small machine.
Molly couldn’t see what Irene was doing and it made it all the more frightening for her.
“I send a little electricity through your body. Now I’ll start small, but after a few lies it’ll start to hurt more and more…do you know how many volts a human body can take without it shutting down completely?”
Molly felt tears come to her eyes. She did know. And it wasn’t a lot.
“Now let’s start with the basics shall we? What’s your name?”
Molly took a deep breath and didn’t answer.
“Oh and for every question you don’t answer…” Irene hooked up the last of the machine so Molly was holding two handles and she flipped the switch. Molly gasped and yelped as the current went through her.
“M-My name is Molly! Molly Hooper!” she gasped out and felt her face start to flush.
“Oh what have we here are you lying?” Irene grinned and Molly paled.
“N-No unless you wanted my f-full name…which is M-Margaret Elizabeth Hooper.” She closed her eyes, expecting a shock but getting nothing.
“Hm, a technicality. Alright next question.”
Irene thought a moment and then got a brilliant idea.
“Have you and Sherlock Holmes ever done unspeakably naughty things together?”
Molly was blushing again and this time for a different reason and her eyes went wide.
“W-What! No! We’re just friends that all! He never ever looked at me as something other than a friend!” she shook her head.
“Disappointing. That would have made Jim so sad…” Irene chuckled and Molly was about to ask why when the dominatrix asked another question.
“Do you want to go home?”
Molly looked down and whispered out a
“Yes.”
Irene laughed again and then got a serious look on her face.
“Enough games, love. I’d like to know how you helped Sherlock. So how did you do it?”
Molly looked up at her for that one. She didn’t answer and Irene leaned towards her.
“Be a good girl and answer the question. How did you help Sherlock Holmes survive that fall?”
Molly shook her head and closed her eyes. She whimpered when the next shock went through her and tried with all her might not to start crying. Thinking about Sherlock, her friend who trusted her with his life, gave her a boost of confidence.
“I’m not going to tell you! No matter what you do to me!” Molly said with a strength she didn’t know she possessed.
Irene stopped for a moment and found Molly wasn’t lying. So she changed her plans.
“We’ll get it out of you soon enough…” she turned the dial up so it was at a higher voltage.
“What, my dear, is your biggest fear?”
After taking a second to think Molly shook her head
“I-I don’t know…”
“Oh that’s not a good answer.” Irene flipped the switch again and watched as Molly’s body bent forward from the amount of electricity flowing through her.
“My dad!” she yelled, with a few tears escaping and rolling down her cheeks.
“And why is that?” the woman asked in a curious voice.
“H-He was abusive…He’d hit m-me and m-my mum.. and one day she tried to protect me and he…beat her up again and…she…” Molly’s throat felt like it was closing and she sniffled a few times.
“She didn’t wake up after that one.” Irene guessed correctly and watched as Molly’s small body started shaking from sobs.
Irene hadn’t had the best parents either. In fact they’d both abused her. She was starting to see what Jim saw in this pathologist.
She was small, but had amazing strength and a sense of loyalty. How was she so sweet and kind after such a horrible upbringing?
“What happened to your dad?” she wondered out loud. She watched Molly and started to feel a little bad that she was doing this to her.
“Nothing…” Molly responded quietly. “My mom’s body never even got looked at. They just buried her…I ran away after that and he never came to find me.”
“Is that why you wanted to be a pathologist?” she asked, no longer caring about getting other information out of her.
“I wanted to be a pathologist to help the police find people like my dad…And help those kids like me get some justice.” She responded quietly, tears still falling from her eyes. Her body was shaking and she was struggling to speak coherently. Irene was about to unhook the machine and leave, but Molly kept talking.
She seemed to be slightly delirious from the drugs in her system and from being shocked so bad.
“But then Jim came along and my whole world fell apart. I wanted to be a great pathologist and help people. But he’d kill people and I’d always be able to figure out it was him. Especially after he revealed himself to Sherlock and I got the information about him through the police….I never once showed anyone what I found…not that it was enough evidence to matter, but it always gave me a thrill to think I could catch him. To think I could be up there with someone as smart as him.”
Irene let her face slip into a small smile.
“Do you still have feelings for our big bad spider Jimmy?”
Molly let out a small humorless laugh and shook her head
“Do I go to hell if I say I think I do? I’m such an idiot. To fall in love with not just one but two crazy geniuses who won’t give me the time of day because of how insignificant I am.” She sounded so sad and Irene felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time…sympathy.
“And now one of them is probably going to kill me. I always knew something was up with him when he was just Jim from IT. I knew that wasn’t really him, but I swore his feelings were sincere. I thought I could see that much. ” Molly sighed and closed her eyes. She felt so exhausted. She just wanted to sleep and not wake up because this was hell.
Irene played with the dial in her hand and then set it down. She walked over to the chair Molly was sitting in and undid her bindings slowly.
Molly fell out of the chair and onto her hands and knees. She was so weak, she couldn’t get up and collapsed in pain onto the floor. She let out a helpless whimper.
She closed her eyes and let unconsciousness take her.
Irene closed her eyes and remembered back to a time when she could have made the decision to be something good and pure like Molly. She had chosen the other way.
Calling for the guard she had him place Molly on the bed and Irene gently moved the pathologist’s hair away from her face while she slept.
She leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. This little one knew and saw more than she thought she did. And she was absolutely correct about Jim and his feelings.
This pure and innocent little thing now had three geniuses wrapped around her fingers and she didn’t even know it.
Irene quietly exited the room and made her way to the room she knew Jim was waiting for her in.
“Quite the performance.” He said with a mocking clap in her direction.
“From that kiss and gentle way you touched her I’d say our sweet little Molly mouse has you just as enamored as Sherlock.”
“And yourself.” Irene retorted and sat across from him.
“What do you have planned for tomorrow with her?” he asked, changing the subject.
“Nothing...” Irene started and Jim raised an eyebrow at her.
“What’s this? Are you breaking our deal?”
“I can’t do it anymore Jim…Not to her.” she sighed and gracefully placed her arms on the table.
Jim took a few moments to gather himself and then sat up straight and looked her straight in the eyes.
“Why ever not?” he seemed calm, but she could feel the territorial vibe he was giving off.
“Because she’s an angel, and she still cares for you. If you think I’m going to hurt her more you’re wrong. Just go in there tomorrow morning with breakfast and some normal water and tell her that you want her to stick with you. That’s one option…” Irene looked from her nails to Jim’s eyes and saw he was glaring at her.
“Or you could let me have her.” Irene’s smile was small and seductive. It was the one she used on her clients to get what she wanted.
Jim let out a laugh and stood up from his chair.
“Never.” He said with an evil look in his eyes.
“Please. I could love her better than you can. And she’d be safer with me than with you.” The dominatrix slowly but surely stood up and walked towards him.
“I think with a little more time she might even learn to like me more than you.”
Jim’s body didn’t move an inch, but she could see the fury building up behind those eyes.
“Molly Hooper is mine. Mine to have. Mine to protect from people like you…”
“And yours to love?” Irene questioned with a raised eyebrow, “Can you even say that you love her? She’s the kind of person who needs that conformation Jimmy. And you won’t be able to give it to her.”
“Oh and you will, will you?” Jim turned so he was facing her head on. Irene didn’t back down, and neither did he.
“Last I remember, you were still pining after a certain consulting detective. Run along and go play with him.” Jim rolled his eyes and then watched as Irene took a step closer to him.
“I swear on everything you hold dear in this world, if you do anything to hurt that girl I will come and take her from you.” She threatened him seriously and he knew she would try and make good on that promise.
“As if you could.”
“I’m seriously considering going in there, waking her up and telling her this was all your idea. Who do you think she’ll run to after that?” the dominatrix smiled slowly and looked him straight in the eyes.
Jim glared at Irene and she gave him a devilish smirk.
“It seems your time with her is officially over Ms. Adler. Sebastian will show you out now. Don’t let me find you around here again, or I won’t be as nice as last time.”
Irene chuckled and put a hand up to her cheek.
“Are you worried she’ll actually choose me over you? My my. She is your soft spot. I’ll stay away as long as you don’t mess this up.” Walking towards the door that led to the stairwell she barely stopped to look back.
“Oh and Jim? The only reason I’m not about to tell everyone that a simple and ordinary pathologist is the big bad Moriarty’s weakness is because she’d be in trouble. And besides, if I team up with Sherlock Holmes again we should be able to steal her back from you somehow.”
She glanced back at him with that smile he hated to see on her.
“I’ll see you again soon, Jim.”
Jim’s brain immediately went to all the different ways he would have to fight them off and his lips turned up into a grin.
A whole new game to play, and he was going to make sure he kept the prize.
He looked to the screen and watched as Molly slept. He ran a finger down the monitor and then turned and walked over to a certain door. He dismissed the guard and walked into her room.
He was quiet as to not wake her up, but he needed to see her in person. Watching her sleep and look so peaceful made him feel...something he wasn’t sure what.
He gently picked her up, being careful not to wake her.
Jim carried her all the way to his room and placed her on the bed. This is where she belonged and he was going to make sure she stayed there. He slipped his shoes off and walked over to the door.
“Sebastian!” he called and the sniper was there almost immediately.
“Yeah, boss?”
“Don’t let anyone bother me for the next few hours. If I need you I’ll call.”
Sebastian couldn’t hold back a smirk and Jim glared at him.
“Sure thing, Jim. Don’t scare her too bad when she wakes up or she’ll never stay.”
Jim rolled his eyes and shut the door in Sebastian’s face.
He went back over to the bed and sat down on the edge.
She sighed in her sleep and mumbled something that sounded like his name. He couldn’t help his wide grin at that new development.
When she woke she would be pleasantly surprised that he was with her and that he was going to take care of her.
His plan was working perfectly and Molly Hooper was right within his grasp.
HELLO darling! (I love your account!) can you do a one shot where Moriarty comes back from the dead in the mortuary (is that what it's called??) And then Sherlock comes in and they fight over Molly?
Why thank you my dear <3 I hope this is everything you were hoping for. Sorry it took longer than expected to write.
Jim Moriarty knew he wasn’t going to die that day. He knew Sherlock Holmes wasn’t going to die that day either.
It had taken two years, but he had made the consulting dicktective believe he’d dismantled his empire.
Idiot. All Sherlock Holmes had done was make it harder for himself to prove Jim had done anything later.
He had timed his return perfectly so he knew Sherlock was staying in England with him. Sherlock would come to the morgue, Jim knew that he would.
But he would get there first and he’d get to Molly Hooper first.
Having Sebastian get him inside was easy enough. A body bag was all they needed along with a police uniform. No one even blinked an eye as they walked in and got down to the morgue where he knew Molly Hooper would be in approximately forty-five minutes after her break. It would be enough time for him to get set up.
He unzipped the bag and sat up as soon as the door was shut with a soft thud and then got up to stretch.
He looked around and smirked slightly. It hadn’t changed at all since he’d left. Jim went into Molly’s office, saw her bag and her coat were still there and moved them so she’d think she was crazy when she walked back into the office.
He did love to mess with people.
When the door opened next Jim was facing away from it but he recognized the footsteps instantly. His lips twitched up into a smirk.
“Sherlock Holmes, I thought you’d have gone straight to get Molly Mouse out of here.” He said while sticking his hands in his pockets and turning his head to see him over his shoulder.
“That’s why I’m here of course.” Sherlock looked at Jim and glared slightly at him.
They were back to where it had all started, but this time they were both completely different people.
“Well I don’t see our dear Molly Hooper with you. And her things are still here so she hasn’t left quite yet.”
“Why state the obvious when you know we’re both aware.” Sherlock rolled his eyes and walked over to his usual spot by his microscope.
They stayed in silence for a few moments until Sherlock started speaking again.
“You can’t have her.”
Jim felt himself grinning and he couldn’t stop it.
“Oh, and are you her keeper then?”
“She’s my pathologist, Moriarty. And she doesn’t belong with you.” Sherlock’s hands clench into fists and Jim laughed.
“Says you. I say we should ask her. Since I was likely the best boyfriend she ever had and you were just some crush…we’ll see who she chooses to go with.”
“The best boyfriend, who was lying to her and then tried to kill her friends! Honestly, don’t be daft! She’ll never go with you willingly.” Sherlock tried to sound confident.
“Well yes, but I haven’t killed anyone she cares about. You survived.” Jim walked over to where Sherlock was standing and took a seat right next to him.
“And I think you’ll find that after being not only the kindest and most considerate man to ever grace her life, but also the best in bed she’s ever had, she will come with me after a little…persuasion in the right direction.” Jim’s smirk was back as Sherlock started getting more noticeably agitated.
“She loves me! It’s been made perfectly clear she does!” Sherlock exclaimed as he turned to face Jim.
“Oh I’m sure she does.” Jim said nonchalantly, looking at his nails in a gesture of boredom.
“But she loves me too. We’re the same you and I.” Jim said and rested his hand on the table in front of him.
“There are a few exceptions. Unlike you, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to have what I want. And do you know what I want Sherlock?” Jim let his eyes glance over at him and he gave a small smile.
Sherlock was glaring at him again.
“Like I said earlier. You. Can’t. Have. Her.” He was seething with anger and he was getting angrier after every word.
“So, not targeting her back when I set this all up was a bad idea. I should have let you stay in the dark on how you feel about our dear sweet Molly.” Jim slowly stood up and looked into the eyes of his greatest foe.
The consulting detective was a mess inside. He could tell.
Jim was calm, but he was using that voice. The one he used to frighten his clients and send chills down the backs of his enemies.
“I will have her Sherlock.” Jim’s eyes looked him up and down as if telling him he wasn’t measuring up.
“You can’t stop me. She’ll be mine in ways you’ve only ever dreamed of. And if I have to I will threaten every single part of your heart.” Jim slowly took a step to the side.
“She won’t cooperate. She’s stronger than you think she is and I’m going to help her fight you. You won’t be taking her! You can’t have her.” Sherlock was there blocking his path with confidence, fury, and a fiercely passionate look about him.
And Jim let his eyes roll up to stare at him with an evil look.
“I will tear down every single shred of heart you have in you, piece by piece until they are all gone and you can’t get back up. John Watson, his lovely wife and their baby for starters.” Jim smiled a mocking smile at the detective who looked for once at a loss for words.
“Honestly when did you get so sentimental. You’re so boooring now.” The criminal drawled out.
“That would make you boring as well, because we both know exactly when we got sentimental.” If Jim didn’t know any better he’d have sworn Sherlock sounded a little bitter.
“And when was that?” Moriarty sounded bored and it got under Sherlock’s skin.
“That’s when we met Molly Hooper and realized she’s nothing if not extraordinary.”
“Ah that’s where you’re wrong dear Sherlock Holmes. I never bothered hiding it. Everything I did, have done, or will do from this point on is for her. What’s a king without his queen? A dragon without his treasure? A knight without his damsel?” Jim walked slowly around the detective and over to where the bodies were stored.
“Don’t touch Molly Hooper or I will end you.” Sherlock said in an all too convincing voice.
“I have no doubt of that, seeing as you shot that Magnussen guy without giving it much thought.” Jim’s hand ghosted over the handles to three different compartments.
“Nicely done by the way. He was a huge pain in my ass for a long time. Didn’t get rid of him though, he gave me a lot of information on people. I could have helped you kill him better and without getting caught you know.” Jim was speaking as if he and Sherlock were long lost friends and he was disappointed in his choices to not come to him for help.
“Next time I need to murder a criminal I’ll be sure to stop by your place to ask for help. Would you like to pull the trigger or shall I?” Sherlock asked dryly
Jim’s laughter was just a little too loud at this comment.
“You wouldn’t dare. You need me to keep from being bored.” Jim smirked over at Sherlock and watched as the detective thought about what he was saying.
“Not if you touch Molly Hooper I don’t. She’s mine!” Sherlock’s voice was teetering into a half panic, half furious tone.
“If I recall correctly she was MINE FIRST.” Jim finally shouted back at him.
“You had your time with her, and you screwed it up!” Sherlock retorted.
“You’ve had eight years with her and all you’ve ever done is screw it up!”
After considering his words and struggling for an argumentative point he finally shouted out
“Well finders keepers! I saw her first so you have to back off!”
“You lost her and I picked her back up so she’s mine!”
The arguing went on like this for another few minutes, and neither self-proclaimed genius noticed the small woman who had been standing by the door listening to their back and forth for a few minutes now.
“You’re an ass hole!”
“You’re a murderer!”
“She’ll never go with you.”
“She’ll never stay with you!”
“Don’t I get a say?” a small voice sounded in the corner and they both whipped around to look at her.
There stood Molly Hooper with an eyebrow raised and a half empty cup of coffee in her hand.
“Molly!” They both said in unison and then glared at each other.
“Gentlemen I hate to break up the party, but I have work to do and you’re giving me a headache so…Jim I’d say it’s nice to see you again, but to be honest the whole criminal thing is a bit of a turn off, love. Sherlock, I’m still very cross with you about the drugs and Janine and now this whole shooting a person thing. So both of you get out and fight about me somewhere else. No dropping bodies,” she glared at Jim, “no calling in reinforcements like John Watson,” she glared at Sherlock, “and no weapons.” She said as a hand moved to rest on her hip and glared at them both again.
“Am I understood?” she asked as both men just stood there and watched her.
Sherlock’s eyes were slightly wider than usual and Jim’s eyes were darker and his smirk was back.
“Sure, Molly.” Sherlock said and walked over to her. He kissed her on the cheek as he past and shot a look back at Moriarty who was now sporting a rather furious look.
Jim walked over to her next and place a lingering kiss on the corner of her mouth.
“It’s very nice to see you again Molly. I’ll be calling on you soon, love.” Jim said with a sweet smile and a dark and seductive look.
Molly shivered at this and Jim heard Sherlock curse under his breath. Jim had always been better at this than Sherlock.
Sherlock was at a clear disadvantage here and they both knew it.
The criminal and detective walked out of the morgue and glared at each other as they did so. Jim walked one direction and Sherlock walked the other, but before either got too far they started talking again.
“She’s mine.” Jim said at the same time Sherlock said “My pathologist.”
Molly listened and watched from the door window and sighed lightly, but had a smile on her face. This was going to be a nightmare and a great dream all packed onto a rollercoaster of feelings.
To be honest, she was excited to see who would win.
What better way to kick off the Christmas season than with a little bit of Holiday Fear? It seems as if Jim has something special planned for the holidays. Something that has the potential to claim many bodies. Molly can't hide her excitement and Sherlock can't hide his suspicion that Molly knows who's to blame. Just how far into it is she with the deliciously evil James Moriarty?

Chapter 4 here!
...have a Teaser...
Molly woke with purpose now. She had a reason to drag herself into St. Barts and see what was waiting for her in those refrigerated cases or what Lestrade would drag in. She checked her phone, slightly disappointed that he hadn't sent anymore messages during the night. Disappointed but not surprised. He never texted for banal chit chat, it was always business related. Well, almost always, he slipped up occasionally and let his human side shine through the light of the LCD screen. She finished up her morning routine and set off to work, checking her phone once more, scowling as she slipped it back into her pocket. She sighed, gathered her things and stepped out the door of her flat. Her cell finally chirped as she was fastening her seatbelt in the car. Her heart skipped a beat, her hands flying to her back pocket and sliding her thumb across the unlock key.
Desperation isn't fetching on you, my dear. –JM
Molly pursed her lips at his words. Desperate? She wasn't being desperate; she missed him, was all. How could he take that for desperation? Oh, right, because he was James fucking Moriarty. Desperate? He was the one who was starved for attention, he was the one who came back seeking her out, he was the one made damn sure his name was well known across the city. Oh, no, no, no, it was quite the other way around. Even so, he wasn't a man to be trifled with and she thought long and hard about her response.
Is it desperation Jim? Or a starving hunger that we both can't seem to satiate.-MH
I get to watch you, Molly. Have you forgotten that? My hunger pangs are kept at arm's length…for now.-JM
She bit her lip, annoyed further that he was practically bragging that he got to see her and all she had of him was a few lousy texts. But instead she would play his game. Her fingers flitted down and undid the first two buttons on her top, exposing a dainty bit of cleavage thanks to her push up. She smirked to herself, re-pocketing her phone and heading to the hospital.
