He took in a slow breath, and as he breathed out, Lan Zhan felt it—a sparkling, tumbling rush of magic that raced through him like a spring downpour. It knocked down barriers and whisked off the heavy cover that had sheltered and oppressed him all his life. Words of truth swirled easily to the surface, like floating petals. “What do you want tonight?” Wei Ying whispered. “I want to kiss you,” Lan Zhan said. “I want to touch you. I want you to touch and kiss me.” It felt so good, this magic. It was the most exquisite freedom.
