𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐖. a little too broad, really, but if you squint you might mistake him for it. half commanding a presence of fear and protection and half taking comfort in her company. the stiff-postured standing he is used to; the pleasure in doing so - he is not. at a glance he is just doing his job as queensguard. look too long and you’ll realize ( in how he stands a little too close. in how tentatively his eyes follow her. like an unholy sort of devotion ) it’s a little more.
a little more, you’d think — but a lot more you’d realize when the door shuts and their company dwindles to two. his posture doesn’t relax entirely here. sandor still carries with him a hesitance, long learned. hesitance, but little doubt. he saunters over to her desk a few seconds after the last of her council leaves. leans a hip against the sturdy wood frame of her desk only a few inches from where she sits. he finishes off the wine he still held in his flagon before placing it down on a clean spot on the desk with a little too much force. always he has had a clumsy heaviness about him. the wine doesn’t help either. he continues to sit in silence, basking in it a little as he thinks she might be too. some of her days were exhausting and he pitied her for it. his job feels a bit easier those days.
in a physical exhale, sandor’s body relaxes even more. he looks down at sansa, face well-lit by candelight. gods, did it do her justice. all day staring at the back of her head or her profile and sandor realizes how he has missed seeing the rest of her. to even miss a part of her feels silly with how seldom they part. but more and more he becomes accustomed to these kinds of thoughts. and more and more these feelings grow on him, grow in him. rooted like a tree and now it’s lifting out of the dirt. the air smells so sweet.
a hand raises to brush back copper hair. lands on her cheek with a minimal measure of hesitance. the corners of his lips turn up in a slight smile.
