fast - from my s5 Kira introspection, which I swear will be finished someday 😭
Her whole body is struggling to process–pulse thrumming in her ears, heart beating too fast like it’s trying to break free of her chest. She wonders if this is what it feels like for Scott when he has an asthma attack–lungs arrested, trapped within his ribcage, screaming. Kira wonders if Scott's somewhere struggling to breathe, now. If Scott's even alive.

“You still haven’t healed.” He doesn’t bother posing it as a question—no reasonable room for denial. “I’m fine,” Scott says without taking a beat, zipping his hoodie up over his chest, as if it will hide whatever evidence he thinks Boyd saw. “I can smell the blood.” Boyd deadpans, “Even with two layers.”

Denial sits on the tip of his tongue, poised to use the way Scott still can’t confront what Theo did as a weapon–to push him away before he has the chance to get closer. But he aches to give in, to selfishly let Scott leave Theo’s sins unpunished and forgive him for whatever he wants. He’d gotten a taste of what belonging with Scott felt like before, even if colored with dishonesty. More addictive than any drug.
