Momo doesn’t hear the rest of Kaminari’s spiel detailing all of the fun things that will be happening at the festival; she’s too caught up in the way Setsuna’s face falls. She wants, more than anything, to reach out and take her hand—wants to press a soothing kiss to her knuckles and promise her they’ll figure out a way to still have a fun date night together. But with the risk of exposing them both, all Momo can do is press her lips into a thin smile that she hopes comes across as reassuring. It won’t be easy with all of their classmates wandering around, but Momo knows how to strategize. She’s smart, and she’s determined to spend time at the festival with Setsuna somehow. She’ll devise a plan. She’ll do whatever it takes to put a smile on Setsuna’s face, because the crestfallen look she’s wearing now breaks Momo’s heart more than any interrupted plans alone ever could.

Some Setsumomo headcanons

-Momo very closely beat Setsuna for first in the recommended exams, prompting Setsuna to ask for her number so they could practice together

-They’re both science nerds, but with different sciences (Momo likes Chemistry and Setsuna likes Biology) so they both nerd out with various science puns and cheesy science pick up lines

-They don’t go on dates too often, but when they do its either to some place really cheap neither of them have gone to or somewhere super expensive that they both love. No in between.

-Setsuna likes to steal Momo’s sweaters and jackets

-Momo doesn’t like to visit 1-B dorms because she doesn’t want to bother Monoma so Setsuna comes over to 1-A dorms instead

-On multiple occasions setsuna has tried to re-inact various window scenes from fiction but ends up just floating up to Momo’s window even though the door is right there

-Momo likes to play songs on the piano for setsuna and setsuna has started learning how to play the guitar because Momo mentioned she liked the guitar in a song once
