Well! These little scavengers certainly are something!

01 and 02, once released, immediately ran to the edge of my structure. Seems they figured out we are surrounded by water. 03 had joined them shortly after, but almost seems like it's . . . going to jump?

A fall like this into the water would certainly be lethal. Not to mention, if it lives, the Shark and Basilisk Lizards would swarm it. Or a Leviathan would snap it up.

But this test is to determine their intelligence, so if it does jump I suppose I'll just make a note about this one not being the brightest.

01 and 02 keep squeaking and calling to each other. It seems like they're engaged in conversation! I think they'll work together fine.

And here is the overseer image I have to provide.

04 has safely arrived, but I'm still letting it adjust before it can join them. Still sort of . . . Compacted.

Hm . . .

Is it possible for someone to supply me with a well-kept, healthy individual of the scavenger species? Perhaps a small group?

There's some tests I'd like to run. Ideally, do not send one you are attached to.

I'm studying their minds and how they adapt to their surroundings. Very intelligent, for a beast.

While the exact details remain unknown to me, I have been assured it does not involve any actual fighting.

Rather, I will be sent images of... myself? Made by others who would like to capture my being in art.

It's flattering, I must say.

Well! Good news, I have been supplied with two good-looking specimens already! I've outfitted them with appropriate collars and dub them '01' and '02'.

Look at how well they get along!

I'll give them the rest of this cycle to orient themselves to each other, and then I shall release them. An overseer will watch so that I may record my observations.

And I may update those who supplied me with these scavengers. I can always take more, as well.

how do you plan on preventing the innevitable?

oh. probably making some form of maintinence worker to keep your infrastructure up and running with regular repairs.

My systems are well-maintained through many purposed creatures I've engineered. Even if my region should face freeze or drought, my position in such a large water body will keep me alive.

I will never collapse.

MTN: Ah. Hello there.

MTN: I am Monarch. Group senior since the fall of our previous two. I am also, shall I say, a master of the genetic arts.

MTN: Aquacats and slugcats are my specialty, though I am familiar in lizards, scavengers, mimic plants, and aquatic creatures of many varieties.

MTN: My region was once a lake. Now, it is an ocean. I stand in the middle of it. I helped shape my ecosystem to what it is now.

MTN: My closest neighbor, of course, is responsible for my flooding, as her genetic experiments in lizards produce a generous amount of runoff for me. Her name is Restart the Cycle.

MTN: Ah, but do not blame her. It has been a wonderful challenge, and hasn't caused me any harm.

MTN: The rest of our group is Lost To The End, One Wrong Step, Three Glass Beads, Lucky Eights, Turning the Page, and Nine Drops of Iron.

MTN: We also used to have Crimson Faith and The Twenty-Third Hypocrite. Former seniors.
