Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Taken on 24/04/2021. * Monastero Bormida is a small town in the Asti province, most famous for its castle, bridge and bell tower. The bell tower dates back to the 11th century and is still in excellent condition. A fine example of Romanesque architecture, it stands 27 metres high, has four tiers on all four sides with friezes and little hanging arches. What makes the tower particularly striking as well is that the lower half is built in brick whereas the upper half is made of stone. Notice the contrast between the round-headed arched windows at the top and the smaller openings further down. But what makes this square-plan tower truly unique is how it appears to be connected to the castle by a round-headed arch—something you rarely see in Italy.
