The success story at Moncaster Wire Products this month is that our Operations Manager Simon McKeon has successfully passed the Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) exam he recently sat. The Transport Manager CPC is a legal requirement of the operator licensing system for National and International Goods Vehicle Operator licences. The qualification can be studied in one of two ways, Simon chose the home study option despite it having a suggested failure rate of approximately 50% over the two modules because it suited his busy schedule at Moncasters. The study pack suggests that Simon should put about 100 hours aside to study for the exam, in real terms this took him just over six months spending a couple of hours both at work and at home. Simon benefited from two days of group revision with a trainer in Leeds prior to the course work exam. Simon quoted “The qualification affords us opportunities to grow our transport operations in the future because we can move away from transporting only our own goods. This will enable us to offer other services to our customer base. All this, at the same time as ensuring that we have the necessary understanding of compliance for our fleet right now”. Simon said, “It is difficult to explain the feeling I had when I received the ‘you’ve passed’ email, I may have allowed myself a little ‘whoop whoop”. All of us at Moncaster Wire Products would like to congratulate Simon on successfully passing this exam. This gives us the confidence, knowledge and peace of mind that we have a colleague with an industry-recognised qualification with the complete skill set to run an efficient transport operation. Well done Simon. #transportmanagement #cpc #moncasterwire (at Moncaster Wire Products)
