He keeps thinking about Oscar, through the haze of we did it we did it we did it and seeing his mum and dad and his sisters and Max and being picked up and thrown about and congratulated by people he's never seen before in his life. It's like someone's playing We Are The Champions at full blast, but in the gaps between the notes, he can hear another song playing in the distance, one he wants to listen to. Oscar's waiting in the gaps between his joy.

🥰 aw thank you anon i’m so happy to read this! it’s gonna be a little bit slow going getting it written bc of the holidays but it’s been so lovely revisiting that ‘verse and figuring out how the past year would’ve felt for them.
here’s a tiny snippet from the wip so far!
“You can come, you know," Lando says, getting the words out in a rush. "I know you don't want to, but—I'd like to, you've got stuff to celebrate too, you did so well—"
Oscar's already shaking his head. "I can't, Lando."
Lando takes a deep breath, forces himself to tamp down the impulse to push. "Yeah, no, I know. It's fine."
Oscar steps closer, reaches out to brush his fingertips over Lando's temple, just above his right eyebrow. Lando lets his eyes close.
His mouth is cool when it touches Lando's, the aftereffect of some cold drink perhaps. He tastes faintly of oranges, synthetic and sweet. It's been so long since they've kissed that it feels new all over again.
Lando's hands go to his waist. He feels the broad span of Oscar's obliques. He's gotten leaner as the season's progressed, the last vestiges of puppy fat melting away. When Lando looks at him now he sees a man, not a boy. They've both grown up a lot this year.
they are good!! i think about them a lot. the good thing is that their real life championship journey pretty much matches what i imagined for them so far — they have their on-track battles and they get pissed off with each other, but they’re able to get over it and not let the racing bleed into their lives outside of it. i think oscar would have been a stroppy bastard after silverstone for about a day and a half, and then had a crisis and felt terrible about it and been so nice to lando that it would start to weird lando out 🥲
ahaha WELL now you mention it i did come up with a whole plot line (i say plot line…porn plot) on my walk back from the gym the other day. so. potentially?? but my head is mush currently and i have a lot going on irl so i can’t promise anything (or at least not in any kind of timely fashion)!!
Oh my god I was rereading Mondayverse and i only now clocked that in Fall in love again and again the hug in the garage after the race is that one landoscar hug picture from Miami my absolute favvvvvvvvorite landoscar hug because all the other landoscar hug pics Oscar is so gingerly putting his hand on Lando's waist (love our can't do PDA king) but this one he's like fully got his head in Lando's neck, arm fully around him, Lando of course being on brand eyes closed tilting into Oscar's shoulder😭

YEAAAAH i love that photo so much and had to write it into the ✨narrative✨ there are a ton of moments in mondayverse that are based on real life photos or interview snippets or whatever because i love putting in little easter eggs so that when people see them in real life they can be like omg that’s that scene. so i’m glad you enjoyed this one :3

omg i'm so sorry for leaving this for so long (this is the first time in three weeks i've been able to steal company time lmao) but i hope you enjoyed it! i couldn't believe how long it had been since i last wrote a mondayverse fic when i checked, it really didn't feel that long. it was lovely to revisit them after all this time.
watched the waffle video w mondayverse goggles on and couldn’t stop thinking about lando (who was really impressed with oscar’s japanese but resolutely denied his own ability to learn a new language) gaining a bit of confidence and trying out a new word he’s learned in front of oscar and like… the way he says it a bit softly and gives osc a shy little smile after translating it… the way he lights up a little when oscar jokingly references it later… i’m devastated
(also mondayverse is one of my favorite landoscar fics/series and i come back it all the time- thank you for writing it!)
omg anon this brought me so so much joy. you're so right, it's so perfectly mondayverse Them. lando's little soft voice when i said it was horrendous and then getting all pleased when oscar does the callback to it... BLERRRK they're so nice 😭
