Grey’s Anatomy out here killing + traumatizing the bisexuals
AMELIA & WINSTON in Grey's Anatomy 22.01
Thank you for last night. Link is stable, so I'm gonna pick up Scout and not let him go for hours.
If I had a nickel for everytime Amelia lost a black/dark haired love interest after being close so to happiness I would have two nickels which isn’t much but it’s weird that it happened twice
Hi, Amelia Shepherd finally kissed a woman, happy for her, she deserves it
I feel miserable that it wasn't Monica Beltran, I don't think I'll ever truly move on atp
Happy Pride Month to some of my favourite ships 😊💕🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
all those tearful and farewell moments with jolink should have gone to monmelia and you cannot change my mind
monica’s face in the last one is so cute 😭
Reasons Why Monmelia Should Have Been Amelia’s Endgame (bc I’m still not over this clearly)
I know lots of people are loving Amelia and Toni but I’m still not buying it, and I’m still grieving what Monmelia could have been. So much so that I’m posting on my personal blog about this rather than my Monmelia blog 🤪 So here’s my little list of reasons why I genuinely think Monmelia would have been such a strong endgame for Amelia.
1. They had instant recognition energy
Not just attraction. It felt like they clocked each other straight away. They subconsciously understood each other before even knowing each other. It’s giving ✨soulmates✨.
2. Monica didn’t treat Amelia like she was “too much”
One of Amelia’s core story themes is that people often see her as intense or overwhelming. Monica never seemed intimidated by that. She met Amelia where she was instead of trying to tone her down. In fact she actively encouraged Amelia to believe in herself.
3. Their connection felt organic, not forced
Their banter, the teasing, the little moments of understanding… it all felt organic and a great foundation for a slow burn. They had so many parallels and mirrored each other perfectly.
4. They had emotional intimacy from the start
Even though they never dated the emotional intimacy was there. Beyond the banter and flirting they had conversations. Real ones. The kind where two people accidentally start opening up without meaning to.
5. They challenged each other
Probably my favourite thing about them. They never just agreed on everything. It wasn’t just easy and handed to them on a plate which was a good foundation for growth. Monica was exactly what Amelia needed. She pushed back on Amelia in ways that felt healthy rather than dismissive. It came from a place of genuine care. And we also saw Amelia match that with Monica.
6. There was underlying tension that could have grown over time
The dynamic felt like one of those slow-burn relationships where the feelings are there but neither person fully acknowledges it at first. The pay off would have been so worth it.
7. Their connection felt layered
It wasn’t just romance-coded moments. It was friendship, respect, intellectual connection, emotional understanding — all the things that usually make a strong endgame couple actually work.
8. It had that “this could become something bigger” feeling
Some dynamics feel finished quickly. Monmelia felt like the beginning of something that could evolve over seasons.
9. They had the kind of emotional pull that doesn’t disappear easily
Even if two people try to frame something as friendship, sometimes there’s still this underlying gravity between them that keeps pulling them back into each other’s orbit. I felt that with Monmelia the whole time. Even when the story felt like it had changed course I still felt like they had potential to happen until they literally ☠️ Monica. Put it this way if Monica had lived but they went in the same direction with Amelia and Toni, I’d still be sitting here thinking it was part of Monmelia’s character arc and it was a plot device to make Monica jealous and they would eventually end up together. That might be completely delusional on my part but I think it speaks on their chemistry. It only felt finished when Monica literally died.
10. The potential for a messy, realistic love story was right there
The best Grey’s relationships are never straightforward. They’re complicated, full of growth, timing issues, and emotional depth. Monmelia felt like it could have been that kind of story. A lot of it actually mirrored Meredith and Derek and that would have been a nice parallel for Amelia to have with her brother.
11. Speaking of mirroring…They mirrored each other in a way that could have pushed real growth
Both of them carried a lot internally. They both had the same coping mechanism of freaking out and thinking the worst. They had the kind of mirroring that can be uncomfortable sometimes because it means you end up seeing parts of yourself reflected back at you, including the bits you normally try to hide or protect. But that’s also where the growth comes from. Someone who understands your patterns that well can gently challenge them too. They’d recognise each other’s defenses, call each other out when needed, and ultimately help each other become more self-aware and emotionally open. Not by changing who they are, but by making each other feel safe enough to confront the harder parts of themselves.
12. And finally… the dynamic just felt real
Not the easy, perfect type of connection. The type where two people understand each other a little too well and maybe try to pretend it’s simpler than it actually is.
Maybe that’s why it still sticks with me.
Because sometimes the most interesting love stories are the ones where the connection is obvious… even when the characters are still trying to convince themselves it’s just friendship.
Props to Amelia for at least trying to get out the friendzone though. 🙃
