In another fleeting attempt for finding a face they can’t quite remember anymore, Darks found yet another home that supposedly has signs of a disgruntled spirit. Maybe, if they’re lucky, it’s finally... no need to get their hopes up yet. After nearly twenty of these endeavours, Darks been more of an exorcist for the random entities than recounting with their friend. If they’re allowed to say that. Purchasing the house remotely was easy, with the realtor happy to throw the house to the first person willing to buy without a visit.
Holding a box of fake possessions to sell it, Dark unlocks the door. Walking in carefully, glancing for every step to see if they’ll already be bombarded. “Hello?” Tentatively placing down a collection of books on a table, they begin to search the room for any signs of a haunting. Cane digging into the ground with each step, the silver cap reflecting the little light coming through the windows.

From the minute the new presence walks in, Oliver can sense something is off. The air in the house is always empty, thick with a loud silence, even the sound of someone approaching the front door makes him stand up to his feet instead of staying seated. His distance is kept far from them, considerably so that he goes unnoticed by the resident. Most living beings - more so the normal ones - have a sort of aura that gives away the presence of their spirit, intentions, etc. It consoles him with the knowledge the person he sees is completely alive.
Except this couldn't be a normal living being, not with how the air around them seemed to crack and distort. The closer he steps toward them, the more he feels a sense of familiarity about them. That cane... used to belong to him. Oliver stops in his tracks, contemplating whether to walk away and forget about this potential hallucination or indulge it. "Is it really you?" He asks cautiously, the authority his voice tries to add only making him sound unsure. "Because I... I refuse to fall for another illusion."
