Anna Schaffelhuber is an amazing, 27 year old para-alpine skier from Germany. began monoskiing when she was just five years old, and at age fourteen, she received a scholarship to join a national junior skiing programme.

Anna represented Germany at the Winter Paralympic Games in Vancouver(2010), Sochi(2014) and Pyeongchang(2018). In Sochi, she won five gold medals, becoming only the second athlete to sweep the alpine skiing events! She also won several gold medals at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in both Italy(2011), Spain(2013) and Canada(2015).

Anna has been a wheelchair user for all her life. She was born with an incomplete spinal cord, which caused her to be paralyzed from the waist down...

Since we are about to get our first big snow storm, I thought it would be fitting to do a skiing post. I started skiing at Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation @maineadaptive in 1991. My best friend and phys ed teacher Bob Dyer got me into it as part.of my curriculum. So I got to go skiing for a week. I wonder if he had an ulterior motive so he could go skiing too haha. The first pic is Andy Barlow and I after cross country skiing. The second pic is a couple volunteers loading me into a shadow mono ski. Unfortunately I can't remember their names at the moment. The Third pic is me actually sitting upright in the ski. That didn't happen a lot that first week haha. The fourth pic is my progress card.5 years after I started I was at intermediate level. You can see the date is 1996 and I still have it.
