I often get asked what kind of supplies I use for my drawings, and what I use them for. Having good materials can go a long way if you want to take your work to the next level. So here is a full list. My must-haves are in bold.
ESSENCIALS:
● Clairefontaine Dessin à Grain Paper [Link]
● Derwent Graphic Pencils (from 2H to 9B) [Link]
● Faber Castell Apollo 2325 Mechanical Pencil - 0.5mm [Link]
● General Kimberly 9xxb Pencil [Link]
● Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black 8B Pencil [Link]
● Winsor & Newton Professional Fixative [Link]
Note: You can either use the General Kimberly 9xxb pencil OR the Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black. You don't need both. For me, the Mars Lumograph is more accessible, easier to control, and easier to sharpen. But both deliver the same results.
I use Derwent's graphite pencils for light to medium areas, and the Kimberly 9xxb/Mars Lumograph Black for the darkest areas. To blend these dark pencils with graphite I use a pencil solvent (Zest It) and a brush. More info below:
