The day Shownu decided to tell his parents finally came. It took a lot of convincing on Maria's side to convince him but she was finally able to get through to him. It was a Friday afternoon. School had just finished and Shownu went to Maria's locker to meet up with her as normal. Her class was on the other side of the school so it took her a while to get there. Not that Shownu minded but unfortunately this particular day a certain someone decided to make use of the time.
"Hey Shownu!"
"Uh hi Jisoo." Shownu said clearly uninterested in the forth coming conversation.
"How have you been? I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."
"Fine"
"Oh that's good! How have your parents been?"
"Fine"
Shownu's one word answers were starting to irritate Jisoo but he didn't care. He knew that if Maria saw that she was talking to him that she would get stressed out and he obviously couldn't let that happen. So he secretly hoped that his one word replies would get her annoyed enough to leave him alone.
"Well I guess I'll see you later then, bye Shownu." She said as she squeezed his bicep.
Normally Shownu wouldn't care but when he looked up he saw an enraged Maria heading his way. When she finally reached him, he could feel the heat of rage radiating off of her.
"Now baby before you say any-"
"Why the hell was that heffer talking to you?" Maria said angrily.
"I honestly don't know but please don-"
"I just don't understand the audacity this girl has"
"Maria"
"Like who the fu-"
"MARIA"
Maria stopped her ranting and looked at Shownu.
"Sorry bout that it's just that every time I see her I just get so angry and I-I"
"It's okay jagiya, I know how much you hate her but for the sake of the baby can you please try not to get so angry around her."
Maria stood there thinking over what Shownu said and she knew he was right but hated to admit that.
She sighed, "I'll try"
Shownu smiled teasingly knowing that's the only response he was going to get out of her.
"So how was your day?"
"Besides what just happened it was actually pretty good. Since Christmas break is coming up my teachers didn't really give us anything to do today. How was yours?"
"It was okay."
After gathering her stuff from her locker, Shownu put her backpack on his shoulder and they headed to Wonho's car.
It was a comfortable, peaceful silence as they were walking but Maria knew Shownu was troubled by what was going to happen today. She knew he wasn't going to voluntarily talk to her about it so she decided to bring it up herself since time was ticking.
"Sooo, how do you feel?"
"About?"
"Ya know, telling your parents."
"Oh uh fine I guess"
"Are you sure?"
He sighed, "Honestly no, I'm scared that they're actually going to d something drastic and I won't be mentally prepared for it."
Maria was surprised by his response but didn't show it.
"I honestly don't think there's anything I can tell you that'll help but just know you have me and our friends. You know we won't abandon you."
"I know it's just that I don't want to be a burden to you guys."
"Never. You will never be a burden to us. As a matter of fact I think some of us think were a burden to you, including me."
"Really?"
"Of course. I'm such an emotional person and I always go to you to help me think rationally. There are some days I do it on my own because I figured I was being a burden to you."
"I mean like were a couple. So your problems are my problem."
"And that is exactly how I want you to see it. You will never be a burden to me, baby. That I can guarantee." Maria said with a smile.
"I guess you're right."
"Of course I am."
Instead of answering Shownu softly laughed. By the time they finished conversing they had reached Wonho's car. They got in and headed to Maria's house to drop her off. Wonho knew what was going to happen today because Shownu asked him about staying over at his house of things don't go as planned. Like Maria Wonho knew Shownu was a little troubled so he attempted to lighten the mood. Maria didn't get to hear much of their conversation because they had reached her house. Shownu got out and walked her to her front door.
"Talk to to me as soo as you get home and then right after you tell them."
"I promise baby, now don't worry okay."
"I promise."
They shared a quick kiss and Shownu headed back to Wonho's car so he can get dropped home.
As promised Shownu called Maria when he got home. His parents weren't home yet so he was able to talk to her without an issue. 30 minutes into their conversation his parents had arrived home. He quickly said goodbye and hung up the phone. Maria was a little worried but decided to focus her energy on something else so that she wouldn't do any harm to the baby.
Unfortunately that worry didn't go away because it was midnight and Shownu still didn't call her. Maria got ready to go to bed because exhaustion was starting to take over her body. As she was in her bed getting ready to turn her lamp off she heard tapping on her balcony door. Alarmed Maria cautiously approached the door with a bat.
She stood by the door and waited to see if there was actually tapping on the door or the pregnancy was causing her to have hallucinations. It happened again but this time she heard a voice call her name.
"Hey Maria it's me" the voice whispered.
"Shownu?" She said as she put the bat down and unlocked the door.
"Yea."
She hurriedly ushered him into her room to sit on her bed.
"Oh my gosh what are you doing here?" How come you never called?"
"Well uh they uh... you're dad was right."
"What do you mean he was right?"
"They kicked me out."
The air was sucked out of Maria. She couldn’t believe that actually happened but she needed to remain calm.
"They did what now? They kicked you out?""
"Yea"
"How come your here instead of Wonho's?"
Shownu tensed and looked a little hurt by her comment so Maria reiterated what she said.
"I mean there's no problem it's just that I thought he was your first choice to go to if this happened."
He visibly relaxed, "Oh well it's kinda late and I didn't want to wake his parents up. I figured you would've been up waiting for my call."
"You figured right."
There was a comfortable silence before he decided to speak up.
“Ca-can I stay here for the night if you don't mind."
“Of course I don't mind, I'm not sure how my parents would feel though."
"No no it's okay, I don’t want to cause anymore trouble. I can just see if Wonho is up." He said while getting up to go back to your balcony.
"No wait." She said while grabbing his wrist. "Please stay, we can handle my parents later. I don't want you going out so late and plus I know you're tired. So please stay." Maria said with puppy dog eyes.
Shownu battled internally but then figured Maria was right. He was exhausted mentally and physically and didn’t think he would’ve been able to make it Wonho’s house without passing out in the way. He decided to stay the night and thought that this was a great excuse to spend more time with her.
He took his jacket and shoes off and let her lead him to her bed. They got underneath the blankets to cuddle. Instead of Maria being the one to wrap her arms around his torso and to rest her head underneath his chin, Shownu took up that position instead. At first Maria was confused but she thought that maybe he was too tired to care.
She was starting to fall asleep until she felt that her shirt was getting wet and Shownu was burying his head in her breast. His body was shaking and he was sniffling. Was he crying?
She pulled back a little and titles his head back a little. She was right, he was crying, His eyes were so red and his brows were furrowed. This is the first time she has seen him look so stressed and it worries her because Shownu was not one to wear his emotions on his sleeve.
"Shownu baby what's wrong?" She asked while running her fingers through his hair.
"I don't know I just feel like a failure. All my life my parents have molded me to be this perfect son and now they kicked me out for making one mistake when in all my 18 years of living I have done everything they told me to do. I just hate how they make me feel like I can't do anything right."
"I know you feel horrible but when you think about it you've always done the things that make them happy. You were bounds to start doing the things that make you happy because you realized that you can’t make everyone happy, even your parents. I know it’s your culture to listen to your parents but do you honestly think you could’ve gone on like this for the rest of your life with your parents making the decisions for you?
“No...”
“Exactly and now that you are showing them that you are becoming your own person that makes your own decision they can’t stand it and that’s most likely why they kicked you out. I know it’ll take time to heal form the fact that your parents did this to you but once you get over it you’ll realize it was for the best because you’ll be happy and living your best life with your new family that loves you unconditionally.”
"Really?" He said sniffling.
"Really" She replied with a smile. Shownu smiled back. Too tired (from letting out his emotions) to carry on the conversation, he went back to cuddling her. Maria stayed up to see when he fell asleep, which did not take long. Even though she gave that whole speech she was still worried and went to sleep deep in thought.

A/N: So sorry for the late post. I’ve been so swamped with nursing school I just didn’t have the energy to edit or write anything. I’ll try to post more often but with how hard classes are I might not be able to post some weeks . :( Also I may or may not edit this again.

I'm low-key a Monbebe (like, I know their names, and love their songs, but I'm still not really familiar with them) and I've heard about all the problems those two went through... I'm quite happy for them 😁. And the song is really good, their voices are amazing, and the MV himself is really beautiful (it was filmed on Singapore right ? I want to go there now 😂).
