stoked surfer reports: this just in>> “Dear Mr. and Mrs. Proctor & crew, Well, last week on Wednesday I took the day off to catch some of that SSW energy hitting So Cal. I was thinking to hit Creek, but my friend suggested Cottons instead (for some reason Creek spooks him and I had previously written of anything near the gladiator pit known as Trestles). Boy, what a DAY! We surfed three times (Cottons, Barbs, then Cottons again) and my MonstaFish just absolutely dominated Cottons. 8-10 footers that were easy pickins with my now favorite board EVER. Cottons is deep water so the takeoffs we're soft enough (for the most part) to get into without feeling like I was pushing myself over a ledge on a board that I'd definitely switch out for my MonstaChief pin if things are critical. I'm so happy with the MonstaFish you shaped me, it is 110% magic board fairy dust unicorn DNA that rides like nothing else I've ever put under my feet. The fin setup that I finally dialed in after playing around for a couple months works fabulous ... 50/50 Carver rears and Accelerators up front. The feeling when it turns is something I've only imagined, dreamt of, and prayed for, and spent LOTS of money sifting through racks through the years. Paddling? Forget about it. See ya! Your best chance is to grab my leash, but I strongly recommend against it. And then over the following weekend same exact setup killed 2-3 foot glassy surf at The Cliffs. Longboard? Meh. I have a Takayama Model T for those small days but also have a feeling it might not got salty in the foreseeable future. Too bad so sad. The heart wants what it wants. Just another piece of fan mail to my shaper extraordinaire and his lovely wife who takes care of biz so shapers can shape! I DO NOT, repeat NOT, need another surfboard .... but need ain't got nuthin' to do with it. Have a great week.” —Derek Lemon & Magenta Monstafish for Derek weighing in at 6’6” x 23 1/2” x 3 3/8 60.5L | Derek is 44/6’3”/250/for HB smallish to HH to round out the #Monstachief & MC step-up quiver #monstafishsurfboard #lemonyellow #magenta #boardsforthejourney #surferfeedback
