File #3: Man in the Mirror
Temperament: Usually controlled and responsive, but sometimes restless and aggressive
Facility Location: Mediterranean forest biome
Though kitsune are traditionally associated with Japan, they can be found almost anywhere foxes are native to. In Illuso’s case, he was found on the outskirts of Naples, Italy.
Like most kitsune, his age and abilities can be roughly guessed by the number of tails he has. Illuso has two full tails, but a stump where a third used to be.
It is best not to bring this up, at the risk of him becoming agitated.
It is believed this may have occurred while being hunted in his fox form, but Illuso has refused to confirm nor deny this belief.
His abilities are shapeshifting between a fox form and fox-human hybrid, and a certain level of illusion using mirrors or other reflective surfaces.
He has minor scrying abilities with mirrors, but it seems to have been affected by the loss of his third tail. Those he scries on have the feeling of being watched; his appearance can be seen in reflective surfaces during these instances.
Illuso himself tends to be controlled in his mannerisms around staff, choosing to observe those around him.
He has been noted to be quite smug, and possessive of what he deems his.
He also likes to annoy others with words or tricks as a means to get a reaction, though how malicious he is depends on how he views his target.
Some variants and members of staff bring out his more aggressive side.
As a member of a group of the staff has nicknamed ‘La Squadra,’ he is frequently in contact with Formaggio, Prosciutto, Pesci, Melone, Risotto, Sorbet, and Gelato
Some, like Risotto, calm him down. However, a few of them rile each other up, such as Illuso with Formaggio and Melone.
Some of their antics are fairly harmless, if perhaps mildly embarrassing for the chosen target. Other times, this has led to property damage and solitary confinement for the guilty parties.
One particular incident left Orderly [REDACTED] in intensive care for a week. When asked about it, all Illuso had to say on the subject was “he shouldn’t have tried to feed us kibble.” An investigation was promptly undergone to look into the claim.
He does not pose too much risk, as long as he is treated respectfully and reactions to his probes are limited.
As long as he has access to personal care products and a private den to retreat to, he maintains a more agreeable attitude. If he feels he has been slighted or challenged, however, Illuso will become more aggressive and reactionary.
Illuso has not attempted permanent escape (he mentioned enjoyment of the personal care products as a contributing factor to his stay).
He has attempted escape from time to time with members of La Squadra, as a means of entertainment.
Illuso has confirmed being sexually active, and enjoys taking an active role in choosing sexual partners using the resources provided by the facilities.
Outside of ruts, Illuso has been noted to have an average libido, choosing to indulge in sexual relations with human volunteers or other monsters from time to time.
Illuso has bi-annual ruts lasting for roughly two weeks each in the early spring and early autumn.
During this time, he becomes more aggressive in guarding his territory, and snapping at others more often. Rather than socializing with La Squadra and staff, he will retreat into his den.
He becomes moody and agitated if he does not have a mate.
Illuso does not seem to mind coupling with the volunteers provided, but lately has been demanding a more permanent mate.
