So Nami would almost never eat one of these things on her own free will but just imagine.

She finds this weird fleshy lump on the deck, it grosses the hell out of her but no one’s around to pick it up and throw it away. So after taking it to the trash can she thinks for a second “it’s probably some type of Ingredient for Sanji. I wonder what it tastes like?”

So after 1 inquisitive bite she feels incredibly sick and tosses the rest away (this one must’ve gone bad)

Later when the Straw Hats return from wherever they went, they find Nami but she’s different.

She’s got shiny golden scales, Teeth that shine like the brightest of diamonds (and just as sharp), visible muscles, and Four Ruby colored eyes (she kept her orange hair but she’s also got some golden horns too).

Luffy is fanboying over “Monster Nami” (Nami doesn’t like that name)

Usopp is freaking out about her condition and is she ok? Follow up, is she going to eat him?

Franky finds her Monster form to be Super Cool!!

Zoro could care less though he is still a little sympathetic.

Jinbei is too stunned to speak

Chopper is currently looking through the medical books in order to fix this.

Brook is afraid of Monster Nami (she’s scary, so scary his heart might stop. If he still had one)

Sanji is praising Nami’s transformation as “the next step of beauty”. Nami hit him over the head and actually sent him flying with the punch. She must’ve gotten stronger.

If I had to guess what her monster power would be, it’d be too stun people with her “Shining” body. Another one of her powers would be to control weather on a large scale. She’s also got the strength to rip a grown man to shreds.

All I keep thinking about is Nami continually screaming at the sight of herself in the mirror since we all know Nami, especially in recent chapters, scares easily. 😆😆😆

But once she stops having heart palpitations every time she catches a glimpse of herself, she comes to an important realization. She can exploit the hell out of this. Sells prints of herself to Halloween stores and t-shirt companies. People pay through the nose to come see her in a haunted walkthrough that Franky set up. Do I even need to mention how nuts certain subsections of the One Piece version of the Internet are going for Shiny Monster Nami?

Do you figure that Monster Cells and Neo Hero Battle-Suits are a parallel? Instant power with no hard work, instant acclaim without truly putting your life on the line.

Not really.  Monster cells genuinely turn you into a monster, fix your capabilities and that’s that.   The battle suits are not a bad idea -- they’re just a tool.  In the hands of an inexperienced fighter, they may give one a false sense of safety and competence, but when worn by the experienced, they enhance and extend one’s abilities and add a layer of protection.  Very useful in the monster-haunted world that heroes are beset by.

In principle, giving individually-tailored suits to people already working as heroes to help them do their job more safely and better is a fantastic idea! The Hero Association really does recruit good people to be heroes. They lose a lot of them through the lack of support they give them.

The people handing out the battle suits, on the other hand... they're a whole sack of burning cat shit. They're giving recruits who have no business calling themselves heroes these suits, which is a problem in itself. They're using them as much as a tool to create a compliant quasi-military force as they are to help the public. And the convenient waves of modified monsters make it all but suicide for 'regular' heroes to try doing their own thing, so many don't. It might be an independent occurrence but it's awfully convenient, like something you'd do to drive out a competitor.

Only we're not talking about competing for money. What's at stake are people's lives, livelihoods and ways of life. To see them cynically trampled on is sickening.

I’m gonna give Buggy

A monster cell

So Buggy found this weird thing one day and he picked it up. He thought maybe it was some type of devil fruit but when it pulsed it started him and made him drop it in his mouth (he never learns does he?)

He swallows it and starts freaking out cause

A. If that was a devil fruit he’s going to die

B. If that wasn’t a devil fruit it was still alive and might kill him.

Buggy starts to roll around on the floor and (not that any of his fellow Cross Guild members care) and when he gets up he finds that he doesn’t look human anymore.

He’s got hard confetti colored skin and abs that (quite literally) could cut someone. He’s got claws and seems to be a lot stronger. His nose is also slightly spiky (not in a sharp way but in a bumpy way).

Overall Buggy’s impressed at his monster transformation.

Mihawk could care less cause he’s still the clown (he maybe a little stronger but Mihawk’s technique is better)

Crocodile is annoyed cause now he can’t (as easily) bully Buggy. That’s not to say Buggy’s safe though.

Also Buggy’s fandom believes that this is just the next step in his life cycle before he becomes his ultimate form.

I see this and raise you "Crocodile starts out annoyed, but he's got a //thing// for monstrous beings so that annoyance is eroding at rapid speed and being replaced just as quickly with 'i WANT this man'"

With some Monster Cells

Monster cells build upon the talents of the subject, but it comes at the cost of losing the potential to grow stronger. The monster cells also depend on the potential of the human itself to create monsters.

The stronger the human, the stronger the monster transformation will be. It appears that humans with strong natural power transform into more hideous creatures than weak people who still maintain a lot of their human appearance.

So with these factors in mind I’d imagine Kid would eat one of these entirely by (kinda) accident. He knew it was meat but he didn’t know what it would make him.

Kid would start to attract any and all magnetic materials from even thousands of kilometers away and they’d start to stick to him. He was already seemingly crushed by the Victoria Punk’s own Skull but the attraction just kept getting stronger. Conquer’s Haki was spewing from the screeching metal amalgamation that was forming in the middle of the sea, pretty soon it began to take on form and shape.

(The best way I can describe it is Tot Musica but a lot more deadlier looking and punkish)

(Think something along the lines of this but instead of piano keys, they’re twisted metal claws)

Kid had grown to a massive size (much bigger than his previous ship) and he was only getting bigger as more marine ships came to “fight” whatever this thing was.

2 hours later, the transformation was complete and now there was no Eustass Kid, there was Punk Demon (or any other name you’ve got)

And on top of all of the chaos, are his original crew members who are just watching in awe of their captain’s newfound power.

So I’d imagine his powers would include; Heavy Durability (metal and lots of it), Magnetism (it’s so strong now that Kid can pull the iron from multiple people’s blood, it’s deadly), Flight (he’s a giant floating metal monster and can make others float by magnetizing them), Super Heated metal (Kid can use Magnetism to heat up parts of his metal body), regeneration (kid can heal so long as there’s enough metal to replace what was lost), liquid metal creations (mostly so he can interact 1 on 1 with his crew but can also be used for making soldiers out of metal).

Killer's asking the big metal monstrosity that is his bestie if he's okay and gets an ear-piercing clanging gutteral screech in response. Which actually translates out to "Yeah, man, this is sick as hell" but it seems the transformation affected Kid's vocal chords to a rather extreme degree. That or his voice just can't be heard over all that metal grinding and crashing together.

The crew made him this set of buttons to communicate with like those cats who use them to tell their owners what they want. He just keeps pressing the "Mad" button repeatedly.

Let’s give Laios Touden

A fun present, A Monster Cell!!

Now in all honesty, if he didn’t know what these were he’d cook em

That’d lead to horrible diarrhea and indigestion.

But if he were to eat one of these raw, that’s a highly different story. Now Laios isn’t a very strong individual, so his monster form would still be mostly humanoid.

He’d probably look like a walking chimera of different monster parts, all coming together to look vaguely humanoid. He’d have six eyes, claws that could tear steel, teeth that could easily rip even tough flesh, a tail for hanging from ledge. Overall something very not human.

I don’t know a lot about him, but from what I’ve heard he’d go into a bliss coma from this. Meanwhile, everyone else is freaking out over their 2 monster friends.

Funny you should mention that because Laios actually designed his own monstersona that he perceives as the Ultimate Strongest Monster. I'm not quite caught up on the manga yet, but I have heard through the grapevine that he gets a chance to take on this form at least once.

It can move at 300 km per hour, fly at mach speeds and swim just as fast, an invulnerability to magic, the ability to consume desires, and forests spring up from its poop.

So the Monster Cells would most likely turn Laios into that and he, and I cannot emphasize this enough, N E V E R wants a cure.

Crocodile with the Monster Cells!!!

The only way he’d eat these is if he knew they’d give him power.

So I’d imagine his monster transformation would make him look reptilian but also Sandy. He’s got armored scales that are fully bulletproof (not that he’d need to bullet proof), he’s got sharp jagged teeth, a powerful tail, and now he’s fully cold blooded.

If I had to guess, his monster powers would include; Strength, Regeneration (for the rare things that can hurt him), animalistic instinct (idk what that means but that’s up to you), and sharp knife like claws.

He can now literally bite someone’s throat out.

You say that as if Crocodile isn't already biting people's throats out with the teeth he got sharpened and filed into points.

But yes, this form is Crocodile's dream come true. He'll be spending every moment he isn't crushing marines and other pirates to death in his sandy jaws sunning himself on the beach with his precious wanis. 😎🐊
