Sham is trying desperately to understand Matt and his desire to get Edd, his liege, back but he doesn't understand when Edd disappeared FOR his friends, which includes Matt. Sham is struggling and feels less of an angel for not knowing what to do or understanding humans like matt or their emotions.

Moving on we got Tord's Army!

Anyways they all have secrets
Patryck: He wants to run the army. He believes Tord's not a good fit for the leader position and that it should go to him. Despite not having Tord's brain for invention, Patryck believes he'd be a much better leader, as he does pretty much everything behind the scenes. As Acting leader while Tord is in hiding, Patryck is trying to convince the others that he'd be better as full-time leader.
Paul: He seems like a normal dude, but he's fascinated with the human body, to the point where he views dismemberment as something intriguing. To vent these urges he joined the army. Despite his macabre fixation, he's actually a really nice guy. He sticks behind Patryck a lot, but does care for Tord and the rest of the army.
Yuu: He didn't actually want to join but he really saw no other option. He's friends with Paul, but hangs around Yanov. Yuu is secretly planning to betray the army, but currently doesn't have any means of doing so. He really does NOT wanna be here.
Yanov: The head Medic, and resident Furry! He's the only one who is open about his secret. Paul thinks he's cool, Patryck doesn't care, Yuu is constantly judging him, but he's happy :]

Finally Tom's Monster!
Growing up in a religious environment when you are part demon is gonna leave some internalized hatred frl. Naturally, Tom is really the only one who thinks his demon should remain repressed.
I imagine in a moment of desperation he turns into the demon to protect Matt and Tord during either an attack from the government or the celestial armies that are trying to stop them from interfering with the natural order more than they already have.
Tom is really Matt and Tord's only line of defense against whatever is trying to attack them considering tord's army is slowly losing contact with him.
I know a lot of people believe that Tord caused the rage demon, but i think it's genetic. I describe my thoughts here if ur interested :3
