I love Stories 3 but the Ratha glaze is driving me nuts.
Yes yes Rathalos is Monhun’s pikachu but you want to know what Pokémon DOESN’T do? Lock pikachu in your team and give you no ability to remove it until the end of the game. It doesn’t help that you only actually NEED Ratha in 1-2 fights total in the story for a one off gimmick interaction with a boss.
What’s worse is that Ratha isn’t even a good monstie and is powercrept out by a good number of fire element monsties before you finish the story, the absolute evasion thing is the only unique element until you get access to Silverwind Nargacuga in the second area of the game 💀. It sucks extra hard because it’s generally convenient to have a monstie of each type for your team (fire, water, thunder, ice, dragon, non-element) so Ratha is eating up your fire slot unless you want to have to deal with the headache of swapping your team constantly when you have that one fight that just so happens to be weak to the one element you don’t have.
Oh and now that you actually finished the game, there’s next to nothing left to do with your free slot for your fire monstie, because the post game isn’t implemented yet.
Also also I already know that Stories 1 and 2 did the same thing, I’m not a tourist to the spinoffs, but just because the previous games did it, does not make it a good decision.
