Some of the decisions made during MHST3’s production are… Questionable to say the least.

Namielle can’t swim (though maybe there is some lore saying it can’t).

Great Poogie can’t burrow despite literally every one of the Gale Force Porkers being shown burrowing.

Nargacuga and Tigrex can’t fly BUT SOMEHOW GRAVIOS CAN?! Gravios is literally so heavy that it can only fly to body slam, meanwhile Nargacuga and Tigrex have been shown many times being able to at least glide when they need to change zones.

RAKNA KADAKI CAN’T WALL CLIMB EVEN THOUGH IT IS LITERALLY A SPIDER.

I also need to ask HOW Dreadking has a blastblight in one of its moves, you know something Dreadking never had… BUT HELLBLADE GLAVENUS DOESN’T?! THAT’S LITERALLY HELLBLADE’S WHOLE GIMMICK IS THAT ITS TAIL HAS AN EXPLOSIVE MODE!

Also poor Brachydios living not just in the snow biome but on glaciers, surrounded by water. What did bro do to deserve this.

Update: OH YEAH AND KHEZU CAN’T WALL CLIMB EITHER DESPITE ONE OF ITS GIMMICKS BEING YOU CAN KNOCK IT OFF FROM THE WALL AND CIELING IN THE OLD GAMES

I love Stories 3 but the Ratha glaze is driving me nuts.

Yes yes Rathalos is Monhun’s pikachu but you want to know what Pokémon DOESN’T do? Lock pikachu in your team and give you no ability to remove it until the end of the game. It doesn’t help that you only actually NEED Ratha in 1-2 fights total in the story for a one off gimmick interaction with a boss.

What’s worse is that Ratha isn’t even a good monstie and is powercrept out by a good number of fire element monsties before you finish the story, the absolute evasion thing is the only unique element until you get access to Silverwind Nargacuga in the second area of the game 💀. It sucks extra hard because it’s generally convenient to have a monstie of each type for your team (fire, water, thunder, ice, dragon, non-element) so Ratha is eating up your fire slot unless you want to have to deal with the headache of swapping your team constantly when you have that one fight that just so happens to be weak to the one element you don’t have.

Oh and now that you actually finished the game, there’s next to nothing left to do with your free slot for your fire monstie, because the post game isn’t implemented yet.

Also also I already know that Stories 1 and 2 did the same thing, I’m not a tourist to the spinoffs, but just because the previous games did it, does not make it a good decision.

Stories 3 really just beat mainline in giving Seregios a subspecies.

So many of the invasive monsters are cool as hell honestly, I understand they will never come into mainline because their gimmicks only operate in the scope of Stories 3’s turn based combat systems (in Invasive Steve’s case that perfect hammer attacks will deflect his projectiles back at him and weaken his near impenetrable scales) but this is still such a cool concept of making Seregios’s scales go from gold to steel.

like to me this genre really is the quintessential example of a post that is both true and horrendous. you are correct that is the deal with people pleasers! and many of them would benefit from this knowledge! but you wrote it in such a way that the only people who could possibly Not be driven deeper into the hole by reading it are the ones who are far enough into recovery that they already know this so the post offers nothing of value to them anyway.

and its like, if youre soooo knowledgeable about people pleasers, then youd know that right? youd be able to understand that this wont actually help anyone change? that it would do nothing but hurt people who are stuck in the cycle? this kind of post feels like more of a punishment for them that is satisfying to perform for the writer but is ultimately unhelpful to the world

took me years to claw my way out of this behavior and nothing threatens to make me relapse like these temporarily embarrassed psychiatrists manage to. if someone told you to have compassion for people with trauma after reading this its probably not because you told them a hard truth its probably because you told them a normal truth you taped knives to for no good reason
