I forgot about forbidden desire -stories. I think some of the monster/human fantasy stories fall under that. Not really horror, especially the high fantasy ones.
Hard to be horrified by an amorous monster when the neighbors dating a shapeshifter.
"I draw the line at the human form being weird. My wife looks human, yours has scales and weird cat's eyes."
