Couple landscapes. . The rocky thing is called bad medicine. The story I heard is that the Native Americans told the first white settlers not to go there because it's bad medicine and that a huge rock slide buried a village. I tried to google, but whatever I found was annoying and apparently there's a petition to change the name. Maybe it's related to why the lake below is called bull lake. People love to make up a bunch of bull about mystic and historicized native americans that gloss over the whole genocide part. . All but the vertical one are HDR. Not sure that was worth doing and I usually prefer just a single exposure. In either case the pictures aren't super sharp and there's some motion blur in the plants. A lot of the landscape photos that are popular right now are tons of pictures edited together and even if I had the skill and patience for that, my computer doesn't. The way they do it, though, is by having each picture focus on a different element of the scene, without stopping the aperture way down and at whatever shutter speed is ideal. So you get a perfect long exposure on the water, every pit of the scene is sharp, etc. I'm sure there are similarly people who work way harder to get a perfect single exposure at the perfect moment. Also some publications have rules about that sort of thing and how far you can go with editing. Typically, what I want, and what some publications want is a realistic picture that looks like what you saw. . Also, in the pond in the photos, I saw an otter. I only got a picture of a splash in the water, though after hiding for several hours.
