2. Has writing a fic ever changed your opinion of a character?

Not usually in the sense of "doing a u-turn" on my opinions, but more in the sense of acquiring a deeper understanding of them in the process of writing. It's happened several times with multiple characters, but I think the most stark change I underwent was my opinion of Luthien, while I was working on my last fic. Partly because, again, of fandom wank, but partly because in thinking about Tolkien's themes of Fate and Doom, their interweavings with music, the structures of Elvish society (especially its patriarchal ordering) and what the Leithian tale means - what it means for Finrod to have rejected his crown for Beren etc - I ended up with a deeper appreciation of Luthien, not just as a character, but specifically as someone who upends the neat structures of Elvish society and completely disorders it i.e. someone who could be reinterpreted as a "revolutionary" in some ways.

a dream of silence by abigailmoment!!!!! <-- imagine me saying this title very loudly

it's a bg3 fic in which an emotion-eating monster traps astarion in a nightmare of his very worst memory. you, the player character, enter said nightmare to try and help him escape it.

literally! because it's a video game!!!!!

ok well it's interactive fiction. does that count as a video game. it should. there's combat. it's so good and fun and there are multiple ways of approaching the scenario so u can try different things..... i don't have anything intelligent to say about it but i like it a lot

9: A song that makes you happy

I THINK I’m gonna go with You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon. It already tickled me in general but then one say I misheard it as “You can call meow!” and that basically enhanced this song twofold.

If I hadn’t long since picked a name I would be dangerously close to naming myself Al. (There’s also the unfortunate aspect of "Al" looking like A.I. though 😔)

11: A song that you never get tired of

Ok this is tough because I do tend to burn through songs and then need to not listen to them for awhile before I’m ready to hear it again lmfao.

But........................I definitely think it has to be a Fall Out Boy song. I have enjoyed them for such a long time and I'm almost never not okay with listening to fob.

It's really hard to pick one but I think I'm gonna go with Centuries. It's deeply nostalgic to me. And its always so much fun to do the "Heavy metal broke my [STOMP STOMP] HEART!!!!"

54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

Every now and then there’ll be a sudden lightning flash of inspiration and all at once you’ll know a new dimension of a character that makes their whole arc crystal clear, or a delicious new complication to throw at the cast, or exactly how to resolve a tricky situation in an exciting way.

That. That’s my favorite.

65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project.

Well in the Simple Truth (danganronpa v3 post-game, Shuichi & Kokichi) we’ve been building up to a tension point where the main characters are finally going to have to actually talk(!) to each other(!) about their feelings(!) and I’m really jazzed to get to write that conversation. We’ve only been waiting for it for 100k words and three years

In La Petite Mort (death note au, college burnout Light works in sex toy retail, Light/L) eventually these two assholes are going to have sex after bitchily flirting with each other for weeks, and I can’t wait to write that tbh!

I’ve written various snippets and partial-scenes for both, so I just need to get there so I can fully flesh them out!

I made a list of places I've been meaning to go to/things I've been meaning to do and made a big effort to get them done! I did almost everything on that list! (Things like going to nearby museums or shops or whatever)

I want to make a list like that again this year and do the things I didn't get done and add some new things to keep the serotonin up LOL
